What's the worst score you can lose a set by and still win more points than your opponent?

I'm pretty sure you can lose a set 2-6 and still have more points won than your opponent

You might be right, I just thought about it and took a "guess". Imagine if you won your serves without dropping a point for the first 2 times, but then went to deuce on his serves and lost. It might also be 3-6

Actually I thought about it some more, and I've changed my mind to 3-6

ahhh yeah i get you, so
    closest in a game = 5 - 3

    5 x 6 = 30 >- min points he can win

3 x 6 = 18 > points you can win on his serve and still lose his service

    differnce = 12

you need to win 12 points

4 points to win a game (assuming love games)

12/4 = 3 games to make it 30 points all

so to still win, you have to win 6-4

    so you're wrong lakoste ?

+ i got kicked from the chat board when i kept spamming to answer you...

not my fault, i have a compulsion to press enter after eveyr sentence ;/

    + and i cna't get back on

You win the game without losing a point - Youre up 4 points
You lose 40-30 - Youre still have 2 points more than him total
You win thegame without losing a point - Youre up 6 points
You lose 40-30 - Youre up 4 points
You win the game without losing a point - Youre up 8 points
You lose 40-30 - Youre up 6 points
You win the game without losing a point - Youre up 10 points
You lose 40-30 - Youre up 8 points
You lose 40-30 - Youre up 6 points
You lose 40-30 - Youre up 4 points

You lose 4-6, does that work?

well, your oponent must win 6 games obviously. If they all go to deuce, he won each by 2 points. That makes him 12 points ahead. If you were to smoke him in 3 of the games, you would be up 12 pts and tie in pts won. So it must be 4 games in order to have more pts.

    It has to be 6-4

    To get a game (15, 30, 40, 45) is 4 points
If your opponent wins, that means he has 6 games multiplied by 4 (per game) for a total of 24. If you get to 30 (2 points) for those 6 games you get 12 points.

Now, since you won 4 games multiplied by 4 points you get another 16 points. If you bagel your opponent on the 4 games het gets zero, nada.

    Therefore adding all your points: 12 + 16 = 28 points
    your opponent: 24 + 0 = 24 points

I'm not sure what your question is, however, yes to win a game you have to win more points than your opponent. I am asking about winning a set though.

Bingo, we have a winner (except that the closest way to win a game can be 4-2). Thanks to all the contestants.

To the winner, your prize is a lifetime membership on the TW forum. Congratulations!
