Would you agree or disagree? Give examples for or against.

Fedace, when he was banished, but reborn as self-assured as ever.

    Who is John Galt?

Is there a comparable character in the realm of non-fiction?

Watched "A Man For All Seasons" and thought of Smiling Bob. He sure filled a room.

I wonder if Julius Caesar ever battled the prospect of losing his confidence.

If anyone said I ever had any weaknesses, a lack of confidence would not be one of them.

This used to be a problem for me when it came to the ladies until I discovered the power of ruffies.

Another great alternative is a bottle of chloroform and the surefire line "do you think my handkerchief smells a funny".

What about not so great or downright awful men who have known the feeling of gained/ or even enormous confidence?

Confident people are the cause of most of the world's man-made problems.

    Well said!

I don't believe a bit that the best tennis players are confident people.

Intelligent people can see all the risks, options and possibilities, all of which create anxiety. But all that analytics information can be used for good results. Stress is good for creativity and success if not excessive.

^^ and lest we forget the evolutionary value of anxiety. The confident guy stood there and said "why should a wooly mammoth worry ME?" while the anxious guy took off for the hills.

You seem very confident saying that.

Makes me wonder what are the most pressure packed situations in each sport. Golf seems like it has the most pressure.....just an initial feeling.

This is what bugs me about loud obnoxious tennis coaches. On the other hand people do tend to listen to such types.

Thread is about confidence, not science.
