My first time visiting Spain was in the early 1990s, when I took a holiday from Paris with my Swedish girlfriend to meet two of her friends from home. We went to a nude beach. The sunburn in very painful places was not any fun. The sun and my skin really don't have a very good relationship. I broke up with her about a month later.

Thanks, I suspect you wouldn't recognise the country, in terms of the social mood. 40 years on from El Caudillo has changed the stuffy Spanish mentality of yesteryear beyond comprehension. It must be one one of the most socially progressive countries almost rivalling Denmark and Holland.

The beaches are beautiful and famous for their winds so attract much water sport activity. Though tennis can at times be challenging....

No one bats an eyelid when the girls 'hacer topless', though I am sure there are many an admiring squint through ones sunglasses.

I am puzzled about the last line, did you break up with the girl, or did the burnt skin break off about a month later ?

p.s. i imagine you somewhat like a baked alaska :)

False and silly attempt to angle the facts.

You forgot the platform and premise for the whole dialogue.

    This:

I asked mikeler to spend a few minutes on some videos i posted for his convenience and to help his lack of respect for facts and efforts for a better future for all of us.
He hasnt shown a sign of finding time for that.
So how is that for 'elite' snobbery style?
Pretty strong showing in that respect i'd say.
Complain to him, not to me.
    Thanks .

The whole country of Spain is dismissed .. lol.
You Went as a kid with your family and didnt like it.
I can recall doing the same but you know as we get older we can go back and have a better time.. sometimes other factors than the Place may be the problem.
Besides that comparing a city to a whole country is kinda weird and especially
when the weather Culture climate etc etc arent so similar.
Spain / Italy / Croatia/ The South of France aka Cote d Azur
    Holland / Germany / Belgium
is better to compare, dont you agree?

Anaconda must be a real case of bad luck ( or mental midgetness)

Spain has many shortcomings but food is certainly not one of them.

I agree it used to be better in the past for low cost tickets than it is now, nevertheless.

    Smh.

I stand by my characterization of the events, as they are accurate in content and in spirit. You must not realize how offensive and rude you come across at times - but I suppose it's quite common for the offensive party to consciously, or subconsciously, ignore their transgressional nature.

Ok, its is quite true that you have here a personal characterization of the events.

The facts are as i stated which you cant allow to be ,so you are the one being rude .

To falsify events is not known as being graceful .

To put it simply: Before you accuse someone, take a look at yourself.

Ever been to Sarah Spain? She's an ESPN correspondent covering Chicago sports and apparently she attempted to auction her "companionship" to Da Bears' Super Bowl trip in '07 via the Grand Auction Site. Some sucker paid $2K for the "pleasure". I guess he went to Spain and Miami!

Well, there are definitely courts, often in hotels, but also public courts. Should be easy to find.

sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience but you should definitely go back !
pickpockets, really ? i mean big cities aren't worse than paris, for instance. about cuisine, well... it's a matter of luck (and it's also region-dependent). the "average restaurant" might disappoint more often than in italy, france or even portugal... but if you choose your places a bit carefully, you can eat very well too (without spending too much either).

spain is awesome and has a lot of variety to offer. :)

and back on topic: yes, i've "been" to spain. ;)
madrid (immediate surroundings and a certain number of places in the whole castille), andalucia, catalunya, canarias*, baleares*, pyrenees mountains, northern coast (galicia, asturias, cantabria, basque country), extremadura.
*only 1 island in each archipelago

the main area i'm missing, i think, is the area of valencia/murcia... and the "plazas de soberania" ! ;)
(but if i had to go back and choose, i'd probably explore new islands in both canarias and baleares)

Am I the only one to get this very good Elvis reference!

I have been to Spain many times and like it very much. More rural, coastal Spain though, rather than bigger cities.

Just got back from Mallorca ..
we were in Alcudia for a week, on the North sideof the island.
Not much tennis up there but a long white clean beach and shallow clear water.
Manacor ( Rafas hometown)was a bit dull but still worth visiting but Palma was much much nicer of course...the Oldtown and the Cathedral ,Paseo Maritimo and the marina and the good tapas places were all good..
Saw Vilas tennis academy in Magaluf and hit there and also in 2 other high quality tennis complexes. The level of players was great :) Mallorca is awesome..

    Yep!

Barcelona 3 times, Madrid 2 times, Calella 1 time.

Barcelona, very very beautiful, Madrid also beautiful but more of a metropolitan city, and Calella it's filled with life, especially at night.

I kinda like Elvis but, no, we're talking Cory, Danny and Chuck music here. We might even be talking some Hoyt Axton music, who was born in Oklahoma not Arizona...it doesn't matter! I have been to England and I more than kinda like the Beatles!

Very nice. I spent two months there in a town called Agaete. Wonderful experience although I went there before I started following tennis so I'm afraid I can't help there.

Mental midgetness? Why is it the people who post the most are the dumbest???

The owner chained the seats by the swimming pool so no one would steal them, I found ice in my chocolate pudding, hairs in my food. I saw tramps with metal limbs in the road, not to mention it's popular for Brits. I have to deal with enough of them as it is and the ones who go to Ibiza are pretty rough to be fair. Barca is good as it gets but is expensive. I've also heard stories of Bulls running riot in the street. Their way of life just isn't me.

I'd rather go to Australia - see amazing animals and sea creatures, understand the locals and catch the sun. The flight is long, that's all.

The homeless (and limbless) should be given shelter, it's depressing to see it on the streets. We are fortunate to have houses and Internet access. Is it down to drugs? Not always. It was only last week when I saw an old acquaintance from school who was kicked out of his house by his dad, he lives in a tent. I give him money when I see him. He can't get a job because he doesn't have a house and has absolutely no hope. He sells a magazine. Needless to say, I feel sorry for true homeless people - who are capable of doing what the common man does in terms of employability; Shop jobs etc aren't difficult and could be filled by these people. I would be perfectly fine as a tramp, I have a particular skill set which would allow me to get rich without coming into contact with anyone or physically harming anyone.

It appears his carbon footprint is significantly greater than the average person's, considering his lifestyle. He doesn't seem to mind making the choice to exploit fossil fuels for his own desires, does he?

Before you get too excited, you have steadily ridiculed and denied this planets heating up as being a result of increasing carbon emissions.

Now you give it huge importance and seem to accept the fact it is warming due to carbon emissions...
So that is a double standard you have .

How is it than that you now attach such pride and weight to it cause i have a father whose job took his family incl me of course , to many countries which were reached by airplanes?

You need to make your mind up
Otherwise , its YOU who is the true hypocrite.

I'm not the one worried about my carbon footprint. You start a thread a day about it on a TENNIS message board. For somebody with so much concern about it, you sure don't practice what you preach.

As child i couldnt avoid those trips but if you feel i should , its not only cowardly behavior but also quite stupid on your account.
