I am basically starting this thread for two reasons. The first of which is that I am very excited about the new string set-up in my Pure Drive Roddick +. Alu Power mains @ 56 and Babolat VS gut crosses (custom hybrid half set) @ 58. I may not get the chance to hit with it for a few more days so I am just wondering what you guys think about this set-up, and if you have used a similar one in a Pure Drive then let me know your experiences.

Secondly, in the UK, all frames come factory strung. Previously in the UK all Pure Drives came strung with Babolat Xcel Premium 16 which didn't last long in a PD but played extremely well while it did. Yet when I bought the PDR+ the string was a slightly different colour to the Xcel (less white, and more transparent) and just said Babolat 16/1.30 on it. I can honestly say this is one of the worst strings I've ever tried (incredibly stiff, feels like a board even at mid tension, no feel, no power)...anyone have any idea what it is?

    Cheers

I am not sure what you mean my Roddick setup, as that is not the weighting, racket, string, or tension he uses.

I would guess that all poly would be best unless you use a lost of spin.

It's his roddick setup, because it's on a roddick racquet. I might be wrong, but I don't think he was intending this to be like Roddick's setup.

I sure hope so, or else he would have wasted a ton of money.

I didn't mean for it at all to be like Roddick's set-up. I said "PD Roddick Setup" because the racket is a pure drive roddick...so my thread has nothing to do with Roddick apart from the racket having his name....my question was how the strings will play in such a frame

Kchau - your nylon suggestion sounds just about right....its abit annoying that Babolat replace the factory string in their flagship frame from Xcel Premium to nylon !
