I played 2 hours of tennis with Technifibre NRG2 [18] and Babolat Hurricane Tour [18] 58 x 56 + string savers. After playing I noticed significant wear on the NRGs even w/ the string savers. Fast forward 2 days where my racquet was unused and hung on my wall, the string breaks by itself on one of the center mains where I saw wear before. I've never experienced anything like this in my life.

Wow, I was just watching a video of him, pretty insane.

Fastest string breakage I've had was 2 days with poly although I think it was due to poor stringing technique since it didn't feel right :/

I had a string break in my bag... I strung my racquet the day before and I went out for a hit the next day. To my dismay, when I went to take my racquet out of my bag the string was already broken... :( I have no idea how it happened.

It has happened to me as well. My only explanation was that something was probably in the grommet when I stringing and it weakened the strings that they eventually broke as the racquet was sitting in my bag.
I have broken a string once after an hour of play, I think that it was Babolat Fiberace. It was kind of annoying to have to string the same racquet twice in one day.

4 hours. Full synthetic gut. And you guys have some weird string breaking incidents...Maybe throwing the bag around? I've seen that a lot nowadays.

I broke Prince syn. gut duraflex in 15 minutes one time. I think it was poor stringing though.

52 minutes, Duraflex 18 gauge in my o3 tour mids...

that was just mostly because i was practicing serve the whole time. it eats the strings up that way.

I was using some cheap gut from the auction site. One broke on the machine and one broke while I was putting the racquet in my bag, a few minutes after stringing.

I was going to practice, and picked my racquet up from a shop on the way. Stringing job looked fine. I put the racquet in the bag which was in my car and drove to practice. When I got there and took out my racquet, the strings were cracked right next to a flanged grommet.

idk how it even happened, but I strung my racket with a brand new set of Kevlar/Syn gut 57/59, took it out the next day, hit 3 shots and it broke. Smack in the center. I have no idea why it happened, it just did.

Had a freshly strung stick for a 5.0 singles final with 17g Maxim Touch mains and 17g Big Ace crosses. 30 minutes and 5 games later the two center mains snapped.

Worst one for me was on the second groundstroke in a warmup, fed the ball, got hit back to me and on the second hit the string broke, not even a shank or anything. PSGD16. Must have been a duff string job though as usually I get about 15hrs of that setup.

I broke Ashaway Kevlar in 20 minutes.

    jks jks jks.

I think it was Prince Recoil last year, which broke in an hour and a half.
I never break them that quick.

I broke a freshly strung set of 18g PSGD warming up for a match, so it probably lasted around 8-10 minutes. So much for that experiment...

Natural gut: VS Team - 1 hr
    Synthetic Gut:Duraflex 18 - 15mins
    Poly: Luxilon Ace 18 - 30 mins
    Multi: X-One Biphase 17 - 45 mins

I use a 1.30 poly which lasts around 6hrs before breaking.

You must hit with a large amount of topspin. Your crosses sawed right through your mains.

Have you tried the Babolat elastocross string savers?

Rough synthetic gut crosses will saw right through thin kevlar mains if you hit with large amounts of topspin. I strung a friends racquet with 18g kevlar mains and Forten Sweet 17 crosses (which have a slight texture). His lasted about 6-8 hours. I was very surprised... but you could actually see the sawing that was occurring on the strings surrounding the break.

Rip Control, after 2 hours of play. Was nice while it lasted, though.

I had this experience with some inexpensive gut I bought off fleabay. It would break at any tension above 56-57 lbs. on a drop weight. I ended up using it as a cross with poly mains... and not tensioning it above 50 lbs. Actually worked out pretty good.

I would like to know how long it would last if some of the big hitters here like jolly played consistently with a POG. I purchased a midsize to demo and see if I liked it and I got about an hour of play out of 16g spiral flex. I am not a big hitter at all so anyone hit ball ball consistently hard play with a POG?

I have a POG mid. I used to play with them when I was younger, and bought one for old times sake.

Then I hit flatter and wasnt a power player, so no worries.

Now I doubt there is a string on the planet that would last me an hour.

SPPP 18g. Never try it for durability. I'm a touchy-feely player and it broke in the warmup of 2nd match. Feel wasn't that great either.

I had the same experience with pht in my pdr. I hit two ground strokes with a fresh set of strings and shanked the third. It sheered the string a l cross at 3' what a phenomenal waste of $ that was.-- but it has never happened since.

2 hours and 30 minutes to break a stringing of Big Ace 17 mains and Spiral Flex 16 crosses at 65.

Not very impressive to a lot of people here, but I couldn't believe it.

I broke a 17g synthetic gut (possibly PSGD) in less than two minutes. Of course, the string job wasn't fresh though since I was borrowing a friend's racquet after breaking the strings on my K90.

I watched a man named ross duncan break 4 strings and a frame within a 25 minute warmup before an exhibition match, all on new Prince 03 speedports, luckily prince pays him big bucks, otherwise it would be quite spendy.
