Actually, we all don't know he's coming back. Even Favre's circus (and body) calls it quits at some point.

I've got 13 million reasons why he's coming back. He's addicted to the competition, he can't help himself. It's all about the drama with him. Until he actually files retirement papers, I'll call his bluff.

I will only believe it once the season actually starts and Brett is not suited up in purple.

Many athletes get paid 13 million or more, most crave competition, all retire at some point.

Agreed, I'll believe it when I see it. Anyone who takes Favre's word on this matter is gullible at best.

He may like the competition and the money and the attention.
It's hard to retire when you've had a very good season.

Well, he did file retirement papers. And he did it again. So... I don't think you should call it.

But, then again, I'm a Bears fan. So screw Favre

I'm willing to give Brett the benefit of the doubt and believe he has been sincere all the times he's said he's retiring, but obviously he's prone to changing his mind. This time? Who knows?

As far as being "on the field when the season starts", will the NFL let someone get away with doing that thing Roger Clemens did a couple or 3 years when the old, big dog says "none of that training camp stuff and a lot of traveling around for me, but I'll kind of keep in shape (maybe juice up in Roger's case) and be available for home games the last half of the season or so."

This is the part where Brad Childress puts on knee-pads in order to get Farve to put on his.

The more games Favre plays the more respect I lose for him. JUST RETIRE MAN! Go hang out with your family or something.

I still respect Favre though, he's a phenomenal football player. To be a top 3 quarterback in the NFL at 40 is amazing to me. If anything, we are to blame. We obsess over things like this and we feed the fire, whereas if we didn't obsess, the fire would burn out in time. The media is looking for ratings and readers, and they just give us what we want. Pro athletes have egos and they've certainly earned them. I can't blame them for it; as the old saying goes. "those who can, do".

Not for this though, and it had been going on before his retirement. During his GB years, for a few season, Favre would delay his decision about returning next year until well into offseason. That affected their personnel moves as well as when to start Aaron Rodgers. Of course, he more than earned that right as a beloved icon in Green Bay, but nevertheless it complicated Green Bay's situation from year to year.

A lot of people feel that Favre's doing this to avoid preseason camp.

He can be a top player by skipping training camp, so why should he go? He's older, he knows what works for him at this point.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, and I'm a ****ing idiot. To all those who bought into act three of the Favre saga, I have but three words for you...

Nobody bought it this time. Apart from the moron EPSN reporters, who I am convinced either wanted to create a news story on a slow news day, or have the memory of a goldfish.

He never actually came out and said he was retiring - most folks just figured he wanted to skip training camp.
