Russian players have not had a great year, their side had to rally down 2-0 vs France in the quarterfinals, and even their coach considers their side to be the underdogs. Zvonareva had a consistent, yet underachieving year. Kuznetsova might not get the #2 singles spot as she just plain sucked this year. Pavlyuchenkova is still green at Fed Cup, yet undefeated in singles. Kirilenko is likely there for doubles.

Czech Republic has a chance to win Fed Cup for the first time since 1988. While their mood is probably good thanks to Kvitova's YEC title, one has to wonder. The last time Kvitova won something big she went into slumpy, sucky mode. Also, Safarova is quite a headcase. Peschke is old, but steady at doubles. Hradecka has a powerful serve.

I think Czech Republic should be favored, but the tie is in Russia and Russia rarely loses at home. That and I still can summon just enough strength to believe in the Russians.

czech will win fed cup which will spur kvitova on to a djokovic-like tear of the tour in 2012......

Being a Svetlana K and Petrova (is she on the team this year?) fan, I'd like to see the Russian ladies win.

It would have to be a cold day in hell before Tarpischev adds Petrova on the team again. No, she's not on this team. She's playing in Bali this week.

It's tied 2-2. Pavlyuchenkova's quite clutch. She's now 3-0 in singles for Russia.

    Congrats to the Czech.

Nice end of the season for Petra. If the WTA awarded ranking points for Fed Cup, she might have finished the year #1...
