I am pretty sure he is shaking right now:(

I kept telling you to change your name, or at least make it NadalwonIndianWellsdoubleswithMarcLopez2012.......a bit more appropriate and less embarrassing.

Oh great, we have to wait til then? Wasn't something happening involving Nadal yesterday? Now it's September?

Maybe NadalwonSeptember2012 is in order? Or maybe NadalisonaplaneonthewaytoMiamiafternotwinningIndianWells2012?

Rafa fans should be hoping that Rafa and Roger will not come one the same side of the draw at Miami. Two consecutive losses on ultra slow hard courts would be too tough to digest for them :)

Let's see....we've had ONE slam distributed. To win the year you need to win THREE slams, or win TWO slams (and have a better record than the other play who wins 2 slams, if there is another player). You can't award Player Of The Year after just one slam. Djokovic isn't player of the year. Nadal won Player of the Year in 2008 and 2010. In 2008 he lost to Tsonga in straight sets at the AO. In 2010 he lost to Murray in straight sets at the AO.

Does "Marca" have a prize for The Best tennis player of the Year?

I am sure Nadal will win that. Is that what you mean with your username? Please, specify which exactly prize for the best player of the year did you have in mind, when you chose your username. We already know, that you are afraid to make a prediction which tournaments Nadal should win in order to have justified your username.

Well, the title of this thread is actually quite good, Federer was totally on schedule for another drubbing of Nadal, the first one since WTF 2011...

If Roger beats him in Miami (second slowest hard court surface on the tour after the AO) at close to 31 years of age, you can throw the H2H B.S. out the window for good. Hoping for that semifinal encounter!

The only thing that Nadal has gotten closer to is losing his #2 ranking to Federer, as Fed is only 825 points behind Nadal, whereas Nadal is a hefty 2,495 points behind Djokovic....

Why do you keep saying that Nadal has been improving against Djokovic as of late? The AO Final is the only evidence of that, and that was with Djokovic coming off a long 5 setter against Murray. If Nadal is again up a break in the final set against Djokovic, or better yet, actually win a match against the guy, then we can talk.

Nadal is closer to Djokovic now. At Indian Wells Nadal was only defending a finals appearance. Djokovic was defending the title. Both lost in the semis, which means Djokovic lost more points than Nadal, hence Nadal actually made up some ground.

Acually Fed is an early bloomer compared to Nadal, he had his first 3 slam winning year at the age of 22 compared to Nadal who did so at the age of 23.[/QUOTE]

You do remember that Nadal won his first slam at 19, right?

Yes, he may be a little closer to Djokovic, but he is still quite a ways off. If Federer gets to the final or wins at Miami, and goes on to have a good clay court season (since it was so poor last year other than the FO final) he'll pass Rafa for the #2 ranking.

Federer has been drawn to play Djokovic in the Miami semis, so that will be interesting.

Federer will probably lose a lot of points late in the season, because he is defending everything in the indoor season. So I can actually see Murray overtaking Federer this year, if Murray's positives signs from the AO continue. Nadal, Djokovic and Murray can all gain huge points after the US Open, especially Djokovic and Nadal. Federer will have his hands full just staying in the top 3.

Just wanted to say, 2.5 of the above statements happened (Nalby came so dang close...).

Yes, I'll be looking forward to watching Federer vs Djokovic should they meet. It will be a good barometer for Federer's play as of late, even though he just waxed Rafa on Saturday.

Federer won't lose a lot of points late in the season, mainly because he's the best indoor player in the world and has always done well in that part of the season. Federer also has very little points to defend (relatively speaking) from now until the US Open, as his best results from this period last year was SF at Miami, F at Roland Garros, and SF at the US Open.

Nadal has a lot more points to defend for the same period last year. F at Miami, W's in Monte Carlo and Barcelona, Finals at Rome and Madrid, W at Roland Garros, and Finals at Wimbledon and the US Open.

Sounds good to me. Let's hope Federer doesn't recede into the background after such a strong (AO semis, Dubai title, Indian Wells title) start. 2010 he actually won the Australian Open, made the final of Madrid, but then lost in the QFs of Roland Garros and Wimbledon. 2011, a lot of hype after a great Roland Garros final, but then another QF loss at Wimbledon. Inconsistent. But great indoors.

I hope for the same, his play was very much up and down the last couple of seasons. But it's looking like 2012 will be a good year for him!

You better specify that all his accounts need a little sleep, or he'll just switch to another one. ;)

Indoors is a "chicken way to live" just like putting people on ignore. Did you know Nadal won USO when there was a tornado ravaging the East Coast.

Or did I get the years wrong ?
