Does anyone know if Federer uses an older model with the BLX paintjob? If so, then which model is it? And does anyone know his actual racquet specs in terms of weight and balance?

you seem pretty sure of that..

in the previous incarnations, he always used the old wilson butt cap.. even for the k90, this isnt the case with this latest PJ.. he is using one that has the current gold butt cap like the retail model

this obviously doesnt mean he has switched.. maybe wilson used the mold of that old butt cap

I hope this will help. I'm coming to this conclusion after reading quite a few posts.

First from two racket tests of fed's actual racket, Fed's frame is almost identical to the retail K90. Just a little tweaked to his specifications.

For the old butt cap thing, a priority one worker confirmed that they used the old butt cap only because there were so many of them lying around in the workshop.

Fed's using the current gold butt cap probably cuz the racket customization crew just grew tired of people pointing out the butt cap doesn't match the racket and hence a lot of speculation.

For me I think most probably it's a K90 with a PJ, or it may as well me the real BLX90. Who knows. It's Federer's god given talent and hard work, not really a little tweak in the racket that gives him the edge. As long as he plays with a 90 headsize wilson tour model he'll beat the crap out of everyone anyway.

I heard somewhere that it was a pro staff tour with a paint job, but don't take my word for it. I don't know much about pro paint jobs and such.

    LOL

Hmm i wouldn't be surprised if he used a Pro Staff Tour.

but yeah i've heard that he uses a K90 with BLX PJ.

and also, i dont think changing a buttcap would be that difficult seeing as how they can be taken off nowadays

I was just making the point in that other thread that Federer used the paintjob of the HPS 6.0 (matt paint) not the 6.1 (glossy paint)!

So why would a Federer fan want the HPS 6.1 in their collection?

Federer fans wouldn't want the K95 6.1 (only the K90) so why on earth would they want the HPS 6.1?

It is completely the wrong racquet. The nearest retail Hyper ProStaff to what Federer used is the HPS 6.0!

The HPS 6.0 may be a 95, but it's the nearest retail version of the racquet Federer used at that time:)

Hmm...you're right! I was making the same point actually. The HPS 6.1 95 is not the right racquet for that collection.

If you watch Nate Ferguson's interview with TW ( there are 2 )
He says that he uses the k90 but with lead at 12 underneath the bumper

Looking at the photo, Federer's right hand palm has got the same callous (dead thickened skin) as I do. Wish I can play as well as he does...
