In 2012, Nadal has compiled a 42-6 win-loss record on the ATP World Tour.

In 2012, Federer has compiled a 46-6 win-loss record on the ATP World Tour (Nadal is only 4 wins away from Federer).

In 2012, Djokovic has compiled a 41-7 win-loss record on the ATP World Tour (1 more loss than both Federer and Nadal).

Does this suggest that Nadal and Federer have been more dominant than Djokovic this season?

    Highest Season Winning Percentage
    1. John McEnroe (1984) .965 82–3
    2. Jimmy Connors (1974) .959 93–4
    3. Roger Federer (2005) .953 81–4
    4. Roger Federer (2006) .948 92–5

    5. Bjorn Borg (1979) .933 84–6
    6. Ivan Lendl (1986) .925 74–6
    7. Roger Federer (2004) .925 74–6
    8. Ivan Lendl (1985) .923 84–7
    9. Ivan Lendl (1982) .922 106–9
    10. Bjorn Borg (1980) .921 70–6
    = Novak Djokovic (2011) 0.921 70-6

Where is Nadal? Hard court and indoor seasons to start. He is very likely to fade away so a bit early to talk about dominance surely?

Yes, you will see from the (top 10) rankings the number of losses people ended a respective year with. You say Nadal has 6 losses now but there is a lot of tennis to be played before the end of the year and little of it on surfaces, which favour Nadal. So tell me, how is he likely to dominate Djokovic in terms of winning percentage?

Since they have not played the same number of events, it is mostly irrelevant

I asked who had been the most dominant in the season so far. I didn't say anything about the rest of the season.

I thought I'd make the discussion worthwhile by ignoring the fact that you chose to assess the players over the historically strongest part of Nadal's season. Otherwise this thread would be completely useless.

I honestly don't understand the purpose of your thread. Roger definitely have a better season so far, because both lost same matches but Roger won more matches. It's just July and lots of matches to be played in the year.

Russel, it was a simple question that needed a simple answer. Don't overdo it bruh. I think Nadal has been still far more dominant because of that amazing Clay Court season with Fed and Djok a close second.

What is simple is the fact that the forums are being flooded with useless threads.

It ain't useless. If you judge from their current performances without bias you'll know Rafa has had a a better season overall. Although history says that Rafa will go downhill from now on.

Nadal records include his best part of season and federer's worst so no question who will end more dominating at year end.

AO aside, rafa was barely there in the spring HC swing, he did his usual thing on clay, and bowed out meekly during the grass season.

thats why this thread is useless. it paints an inaccurate picture.

nadal has been amazing on clay, so so outside of it.

can we at least wait til after the USO and then revisit?

So dominating on the surface your supposed to dominate on doesn't depict a dominating season? Does that mean Fed never dominated grass from 03-08 because he was expected to?

The point being made is that the whole point of the thread was to tell people something they already knew. Nadal wins a lot and loses few during the first half of the year.

last I checked, every court wasnt clay.

and your last bit is dumb, fed was consistent on *all * surfaces his career.

last year when djoker had his amazing run, that was a dominating season.

dominating 3 months out of the year isnt what I call a dominating season.

hence, lets revisit after the USO?

who knows, rafa could go on a tear since he is rested for once heading into the summer HC swing. djoker could regain last year's form or fed could fall off a cliff.

after USO we will see who is dominant.

Yeah dominating 3 months of the year isnt a dominating season but that wasn't what the OP was saying.

Ok, Fed dominated each year on his prime and was consistent on all surfaces but because he was expected to do that, he wasn't really at all dominating according to your "Nadal was just winning what he was supposed to win and wasn't really dominating" opinion.

Of course we will see who really dominated the season after USO but then again it ain't what the OP was trying to say.

I think you have to take results into account.

Which rounds were the losses in?

Prize Money for the current season:

    Federer - 5,488,141
    Djokovic - 5, 237, 265
    Nadal - 4,997,448

I'd say their rankings properly display their results so far this year with nobody being dominant and all consistent.

They've dominated the season collectively as they have for a long time now.

    Please..nsk has one agenda.

Nadal is the greatest yadda yadda.

believe me, this entire thread is just something to ease his soul after rafa got shellacked by rosol.

should rafa bow out of the USO early or not make the final, it will be a few weeks then he will be back rambling about how rafa is in prime position to win the WTF because he is rested yadda yadda yadda.

Don't really care for those stats. Now, getting to the main events, the slams - 3 done, each of the top 3 have won 1 each. Pretty even. Though, only two of them got to two slam finals.

No, djokovic has def been the best this year, he has done better at the slams than both Fed and nadal, and I wonder how things would changed if his grandfather didn't die

Yeah, that doesn't bode well for Nadal after having one of his best clay seasons. He doesn't historically do nearly as well in the latter half of the year. If Djokovic fizzles out again like he did last year, the race might not end up being all that close come WTF time.

What's the most important tournament Ferrer won ? Were there any big players in the draw or was he the top seed ?

That's why Ferrer is the fifth wheel...

He won in Auckland. Murray won in Brisbane.

And he was always the top seed, and the only top 10 (unless Almagro was in the top 10 at those times)

As I said, he's the fifth wheel... on a 3 wheeler
