He made slam finals. Has beat Rafa, Fed , Novak and Andy at majors when they were not old.

'generation useless' did not manage to achieve that. They should hang their heads in shame.

I was watching a practice session of him and it looks like he is trying to incorporate more spin into his FH.

That takes cahones to back declined Ferrer and Berd brain. Berdy is 20th in ATP race, Ferrer 130.

Not sure I can blame Sock for vulturing Houston. What gets me is he's not playing Barcelona right after Monte Carlo or any other event. Sock claims to like red clay, but actions speak louder than words.

Legend
Lord Fedr has taken a wild card into Monte Carlo the last few years even when he wasn't injured. One of the reasons was Leo and Lenny were due to be delivered around the time of Madrid-Rome so incase he was going to pull out of one of those events at least he had those points. He played MC last year because he played no tennis from Australia to Miami and needed to test his body.

He can still take a late entry it's not like he would be given a wild card.

If Berdych and Ferrer are same age as generation useless, then I see them as 1 and 2 , in the absence of big 5.
LULZ. I know Ferrer falls way short of Thiem (the oldest NextGen player). Kyrgios and Zverev far ahead of Ferrer too at similar age.

Berdy? I have to look.
smiley126.gif

Peak Elo:
Tomas Berdych 2013 Miami Masters QF 27.5 2226.1
Dominic Thiem 2016 Halle SF 22.8 2215.4
Nick Kyrgios 2016 Rome Masters R16 21.0 2158.7
Alexander Zverev 2017 Rotterdam R32 19.8 2076.3

Berdy lucked into an amazing Masters 1000 title at just 20 years old. Not exactly amazing wins over Stephanek and Luby in 5 set final, but both were top ten players. 5 total titles by the end of the year of his 24th birthday. Thiem is at 8 and counting til end of year. Kyrgios is 3 and counting through the 2019 grass season. Zverev is 2 and counting through 2021 grass season.

Nice early Masters 1000 win with weak draw for Berdy, but he did not start making SFs at majors until nearing age 25 which would be 2018 for Thiem, 2020 for Kyrgios, and 2022 for Zverev. Berdybrain not even close really.

Nishikori is about to lose some points at Miami. He should probably play Monte Carlo. He skipped Memphis to play two clay events in South America to prep for the French. He's really gunning for the French.

He better get it in gear. With Nadal defending a lot of points, Fed not playing so much on clay, Nishikori and Thiem have a shot at 4 seed for RG.

Good Im glad if he doesnt play MC…Fed should put in limited clay court season effort and then slay the grass/hard court season.

What if Fed is in a Wimb final again this year? Will you still think like that? :p

We'll see if he gets there, but I'll say yes right now. Of course if he gets there I'll want him to win it badly, but the losses don't bother me as much anymore. Not even the ones in Wimbledon finals.

Relax Thiemnuthuggerer, Thiem now has even better chances of winning the full-field tournaments!!!!

Nishikori could be out of top 8 by RG due to a lot of points to defend (Barcelona final and Double SF Madrid & Rome). Currently +1000 points above trio Cilic, Thiem and Tsonga.
Cilic technically has no points to defend, Tsonga is very good at clay and Thiem will grind his way in to top 8.

Outside 250 Cilic wont pass Round 16, Tsonga himself has to defend SF in Monte Carlo and with the fact that he became father likely wont be in best shape or even play in Monaco. Thiem would likely make a big jump but so could Nishikori with the absence of Murray and below par Djokovic. Nishikori is too good to be outside top 8

Thiem better not lose to mugs now coming clay season. This is his moment to establish himself as the King of Clay. The throne is vacant.
