At least it's a 500 event; Fed would have come off poorly by comparision to the 2 million dollars Nadal got to play in an ATP 250 event in Chile

Who knows what Basel will pay Fed - as of now Fed says there is no contract.

He must be a little wary of long-term contracts; according to his agent last year, Fed was getting half mil, while Brenwald (sp?) had offered a mil each to Djokovic and Murray - Fed's contract had gone into force years before.

No need to write an epistle on how ridiculous that disparity was - esp when you consider who's been the one to do most of the building up of that tournament, and who the Swiss fill the place to see

Federer was bound to feel put out if the tourney director offered doulble the money for murray..

feds will say.."hold on why you disrespecting me bro ?...im the home player, i won 17 majors..who do the home fans want to see ??..me..thats who, not friggin pushrray".

"so lets run down that locked contract then we can talk again about my fee..OKAY"

This is a real kick in the teeth to Federer. He should withdraw and play Paris instead. He can't play both and the WTF so he should chose the one where Nadal won't be. Nadal doesn't play Paris anymore because it's too fast for his poor knees (even though it's mandatory for everyone else).

I think Del Potro will lay the smackdown in this event. I don't think a Fedal match will happen...Nadal on indoor courts is not a sure thing by any stretch of the imagination.

It's actually more the principle of the thing. The tournament director said he didn't have enough money to pay Federer and so he didn't renew the contract. Now he has Nadal playing. I wonder how much he's getting paid to play?

It all depends on his fitness at the time.

    Fedal will happen.
