Ferrer got a bit unlucky with his match vs Berdych but that's how it goes sometimes. Thoughts on this one?

This ought to be good. From what I've been reading on other forums Fed is in "I'm not finished yet and I'm going to show you..." mode.

Paid for Row D seats for this match all the way in December 2010. I strongly presume this is not going to be the same as the 3.5 hour epic of Murray vs Nadal this time last year.

But then again, 2009, Federer vs Davydenko...Look who ended up winning 7-5 third set.

I made a bet with my gf that if ferrer wins a set I'll eat boiled frog legs at the new restuarant they opened down my street.

Fed is obviously a firm favorite to reach yet another year end final considering Ferrer has such a poor record against him having never beaten him, but anything is possible, Davydenko had lost something like 12 in a row and managed to win at the same stage in 2009, but then again Davy does have a lot more weapons and is a lot more dangerous than Ferrer and was on fire that tournament, with Ferrer he has to go so far out of his comfort zone against Fed, so will be an extremely tough ask for Ferrer, but one things for sure he'll fight until the very last ball.

    Ferrer in 3.

This utterly goes against the SDL pick I made...

I'm actually going to back Federer (cue him losing) and say Federer in 3. This would kick Murray back to number 4 and possibly make him rue playing 3 weeks back to back in Aisa to try and to number 3. Could have messed him up. The other top 4 players are better players of the long game.

No worries frog legs are pretty good. Not sure about "boiled" frog legs but I had sauteed frog legs a number of years ago in a nice restaurant--a friend of mine had them and I tried them. They do taste a little like chicken!

But I don't think Ferrer will win. I say Federer in 2.

Any given Sunday.... even Stan, Davy, and Cookie Monster had their days after 0 and nth records against the Fed. I'll take the longshot guy who's never had an Aussie rib eye steak over the guy who has 5 of them in the freezer.

If Fed shows up in form, it will be a manhandling similar to how the other spaniard was served a few days ago.

Federer is in good form. Absolutely no way that Ferrer takes a set off of him. Federer's return game is equal to or better than Ferrer's service game, so Federer has a good chance of breaking at least 1-2 times per set. While Ferrer has a good return game, I think Federer's offense will overcome Ferrer's defense and hold serve 100% for a 6-4, 6-3 win.

Hmm, sheesh, Ferrer unlucky to have to play Fed when he has done so well in the RR.

I think his Rogness is just in brilliant form, so Fed in 2...

(sorry David, and we will still be rooting for you at the AO in January!)

Federer in 2 would be the most logical pick considering his form so far and how he's serving. Tsonga and Berdych might seem uncertain but I'm betting Tsonga will win,he's fresher, he serves better and he doesn't become as passive as Berdych, if he's put of defensive he'll just try to go for a big shot, and if he's on, it's nearly impossible to counter this, unless of course your playing like the Djokovic of AO 2011. This match is really on Tsonga's racket. However I don't think the winner of the Tsonga vs Berdych will have large chance of winning. If Roger shows up and he's determined, I doubt even Tsonga will be able to stop him unless he goes in AO 2008 mode.

Of course Federer will win. Ferrer is exhausted and Federer has done what he usually does and that is have a good rest. He should do what the other top three have done and give the others a chance of the glory

This is about the most hilarious post i have read in some time. The top three could barely make it thru an entire season. Your namesake starts crying by June that the season is too long.

Glory is earned, not gifted on a platter. Rafa should have given Petchzner a chance for glory instead of what he did, by your logic. Anywa, thanks for the laughs.

Let's face it, if Ferrer couldn't beat Federer in the most favorable conditions (clay, Ferrer was in great shape, had home support + Federer was struggling with form at the time back in Madrid 2010) he won't do it today
