Federer serving at 40 % now, no wonder it's tight

The double-digit UEs certainly don't help. Not good stuff (yet).

Fed is still in his Fish match exho mode. Ferrer looks like he is giving it his all and if this continues, it can be quite close. Fed clearly believes he can play at 50-60% and still win against Ferrer. He might lose a set in the process.

And he is just refusing to run around it. Probably thinks it is giving too much respect to Ferrer's game. :)

Fed can probably ride his serve to a TB, but the rest of his game is looking fairly horrid.

Federer is really sloppy so far. Having a Monaco/Paris match, but Ferrer is much better than Monaco. Better elevate his game or he will lose.

Ferrer is hitting mostly shortish angles, it's hard to run around that.

Ferrer had a sniff there at 5-4 0-15 and a look at a second serve

    30-30 now, huge point

Today's Federer is the 2008 version.

    Baseline pts won
    Federer 9
    Ferrer 18

    (I think, fast copied)

    FH unforced
    Fed 9
    Ferrer 3

pretty simple scenarios on federer's service games

1st serve goes in - he wins the point
    2nd serve - 50/50

Federer should thank his lucky stars that he got Ferrer in the semi. Any other member of Group A would have more confidence and likely would have taken the set already.

3 fh errors in that game really cost him, Federer played just as bad of a service game just before but escaped, Dave pays the price

Federer just blew his nose. Clearly he is sick/injured/unmotivated/lacking confidence/tanking.

Fed is not sharp, especially with his bh. Good thing his serve is clicking b/c he's struggling from the baseline.

This is way closer than I (and many) expected.

Federer takes the first set, nevertheless, 7-5

Surprisingly close, but if Fed's baseline game shapes up, the rest of the match will be much easier. His serve seems to be carrying him right now >.<

"Maybe if I dress like him, I'll play like him."
On a more serious note, I think I've seen Ferrer come out with at least 4 different shirts this week.
