About freaking time. Fed breaks with some nice play. He should pretend he's playing Nadal.

I'd love to see the ATP do something like that one of these days. Back in 2006, they should have posted that on the first day of each event.

Fed just doesn't have those 6-0, 6-1 killer instincts anymore. That's what costs him slams these days.

Err... what has Federer DONE this season. Now we see just how good he can be when Nadal and Djokovic are off the boil. Wonder what he would have done if they had been on the scene a few years earlier and they were in his age group. I bet he wouldn't have won so many slams

I just wish he'd maintain some of his 6-3, 6-0 instincts a bit better.

Even if so (which I disagree with but that's not the point), Fed would be BY FAR the best player aged 25+ from the trio. I wonder if any of them will even play as long as Fed is.

So this way or another, Fed gets his 16 majors, possibly even more if he has to face an old Djokovic and old Nadal.

Maybe this is why Fed is playing so well to this day. Precisely because he doesn't go for 6-0, 6-1 all the time. He plans for the long long term

I know. Having said that, I'm guessing he plays these silly/cute shots since it's fun for him. It's not like Nadal who just thinks about winning the next point, Fed often messes around on court. While highly annoying at times, if this is what it takes to keep his passion and enjoyment for the game for years to come, I can't say that I mind :).

    Deuce now

Fed was the only one to beat your namesake's better-half in a slam. And it isn't Fed's fault Nadal couldn't use an entire freaking month to improve his play before the Tuesday curbstomping.

It's odd to bring his up, but I haven't been able to see your momma Novak avatar pic for a while. I think it makes my TT experience more pleasant. :p

Nadal was just too rested and too tired at the same time. A killer combo.

Always thought that of him. Normally when he gets a break he just focuses on holding serve. Sometimes you'd think he's thinking (from his chair) "go ahead, play your serve. I'll stand back on the court when it's my turn to serve..."

Big difference with Rafa who just wants to obliterate every single point out there...

Federer really should've broken there but nevermind. His serve is just too damn good for Ferrer to even think about breaking back.

I swear Andrew Castle mentions that Fed used to play S&V at Wimbledon in every single match.

Yeah I think this is what Fed means when he says he plans for the long term. He could have gone all out too in many of those matches, but he always played within himself. And look what's he now doing at the age of 30. Won't happen for Rafa. On the other hand, Nadal probably made a calculation on this too and realized his best bet was to go all out and grab as much as he can since he doesn't have the same level of talent.

His serve in both sets has been very good (saved him the first set)

Fed's groundies were awful in the 1st set and decent in the second.

Not really since Ferrer doesn't exactly bring out the best in him. Fed's just cruising with his serve.

sampras did that his entire career. its all about longevity nowadays. you can play all out all the time but eventually injuries and fatigue are going to result.

Yes I have thank you very much. Have YOU? Because if you did, you might realise how ridiculous your assertion that Federer should "let others have a chance at glory" sounds.

Incase you forgot, this is COMPETITIVE TENNIS. As Sentinel said, glory is earned, not given. Considering Rafa has 6 FO now, should he lets others have a chance of winning it then?

federer reallllly wants to end this at 6-3 instead of waiting the extra 2 minutes on the changeover to serve it out.
