I'd actually say that most Fedfans are extremely critical. Now there are some other fans who always run their mouths and make excuses for less-than-stellar performances.

Federer has reached his 100th career ATP final and in doing so ends the season ahead of Murray.

The moment Murray told the press how important ending the year #3 was to him, I knew Fed wouldn't stop until he ruined that dream. Fedtroller.

    GSM Federer. Congretulations.

Year End World No 3 (9th consecutive year in top 3)

    But MASSIVE props to Ferrrer.

I respect him more than most players on tour, he deserves his props.

Outcome was never in doubt. Ferrer will NEVER beat Federer. At least Blake, Gonzo, Davydenko have something to hurt Federer with. Ferrer.... nothing.

Will Fed wear a kilt in the final to further express this fact ? Lets hope so.. or perhaps Mirka can play the bagpipe at the changeovers if Roger plays well.

Only old Fed would consider this a a competition. Most of the other top people have used it as a few demonstration matches for the fans. The newspapers here have hardly mentioned this tournament and the commentators are at a loss to know what to say as Nadal, Djoko and Murray have made their exits because they lack enthusiasm. Well Fed didn't have to work hard in this case to win his glory did he

Oh, how I love the fact that Fed's done it, and will be the odds-on favourite to win tomorrow.

Given that the UK press had been overhyping Murray's recent winning streak against depleted fields, nothing makes me happier than knowing Fed's robbed them of running articles about how finishing the year #3 is clearly yet another portent of his Entitled Destiny.

For Fed, it's a clear sign that, despite not taking a slam this year, he's still in the hunt and will clearly be in contention for the foreseeable future.

You mean top 8 players aren't competition? If Ferrer isn't competition to Nadal then how come he beat him in both HC slams?

Of course, were Rafa to perform well this year at WTF, angels would sing, children would smile, and grown men would weep tears of joy as all the newspapers where you are would burst into exaltation and ecstacy

Since Rafa tends to get spanked indoors this makes WTF a meaningless exhibition (in which you can potentially earn 1500 ranking points but that doesn't really matter).

They said in Basel something like: There are 3000 points left to earn. Federer needs 2500 of those. Never thought he'd make it. Poor Andy. Isn't it still the 'big three' then?

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight, good to know that apparently nobody else in the world except the top 4 count. You know what, let's just put the top 4 in the semis every time and disregard all other players on tour since they would just be "demonstration matches" otherwise. And you question me if I have played tennis

The funny thing is that you are sticking by your original statement which makes no sense, while you could have easily said you were just being tongue in cheek or funny since all I called it was "random" in a humorous way. Why you are trying to debate the validity of that statement is beyond me. Whatever, it's my last post on this. Have a good day.

Pretty sloppy match from Fed in my opinion. Especially the first set he sprayed errors. Could have been different had David won first set six four. After that, Ferrer only won 1 point on the Federer serve throughout, which is pretty good from Fed considering Ferrer is one of the best returners in the game. All in all, it wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. It was good enough. Hope Berdych-Tsonga murder each other on the court in a 4 hour epic:

    7-6 (27) 6-7 (22) 7-6 (89)

100th final for Fed, going for his 70th title, goes equal with Edberg on 806 wins and has moved back up to number 3, not a bad way to end the season lol

Heard that Federer will be treating the ball kids, just as he did in Basel with pizzas, with haggis should he prevail on Sunday.

One thing I'd like to point out for today is how well Federer volleyed. it was exceptionally good. Although is groundies sucked, his serve and his volley were really awesome.

Nadal has been the top 2 player since 2005.

Novak has been top 3 player since 2007.

Niether of them became top players this year for the first time or something.

Furthemore Fed doesn't need anyone to be off the boil at WTF to win, he's 4-0 against Nadal in this event, even last year he fed him a breadstick in the final in Nadal's best career year to date.

BTW. Considering Nadal's recent statements and his fans criticism of his game and "lack of passion" I'd love to see a 26 year old Fed play a 26 year old Nadal.

agreed first set not much was working in feds game besides the serve.
2nd set was alot better tho only a little careless maybe when he was given the chance to go up a double break early and didnt take it.

the outcome of the first set was obviously a result of the 11-0 h2h prior to the match and ferrer doubting himself in moments where he shouldve been clear in his head. thats how it goes
