Can anybody tell me what the angle should be, between the arm and the racket? It cannot be a straight line from the arm to the racket (180 degrees), right? And 90 deg also sounds too much as someone suggested.

Federer doesn't have a set angle. It varies from shot to shot.

SO it is OK to bend the wrist instead of trying to keep it straight (180 deg) to the racket at contact...

Your meant to have a laid back wrist from take back to followthough, your arm must be set and stay like that untill the end of the stroke.

If you watch federer, you will see how flexible his arm looks, almost like a whip. You have to relax your arm and wrist somewhat to achieve that. Keeping your wrist firm goes against that, so if you want to hit like federer, loosen up your strokes!
