    From the ATP site:

Second seed and two-time reigning champion Roger Federer beat 2007 runner-up David Ferrer, the fourth seed with an ATP World Tour-best seven titles this year, 6-4, 7-6(5) on Thursday in Group B to qualify for the semi-finals at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. Both players had come into the match on 11-match winning streaks.

    Also:

Incredibly, he now has a 102-1 lifetime record against opponents aged 30 and over. His only loss came against 31-year-old Andre Agassi at the Sony Open Tennis in March 2002.

He isn't. He's on a 2-match win streak. And he came into that match on a 1-match win streak.

Federer won his last 11 (12 now) matches at the Tour Finals while Ferrer prior to the match had 11 matches won in a row en general.

I was going to point that out too. Didn't he also lose to Hewitt or was he not 30 yet.

The actual stat was that since 2002 (when he lost to Agassi) he has only lost to Haas as far as 30s are concerned. But the losses at Halle to Hewitt and Haas still do stand out a lot.

I'm not impressed. Nadal had a 28 match win streak at RG and currently has a 40 match win streak at Monte-Carlo. 12 is nothing significant.

And how many of those 28 and 40 matches of Nadal's were against top 10 players? Because all of Federer's 12 matches are against top 10 players.

Don't worry - I did the math for you.

7 of Nadal's 28 matches at Roland Garros were against top 10 players.
14 of Nadal's 40 matches at Monte-Carlo have been against top 10 players.

So in three years at the WTF, Federer will have played as many top 10 players as Nadal has at Monte-Carlo in eight years.

Of course you're not. Never mind Fed's 65 match streak on grass or 56 on hard. Yeah never happened.

How is that embarrassing? Agassi was in the middle of this 3/4 AO run.

I always imagined Fed to have a relatively poor record with oldies since he likes them so much, like Haas,Malisse, Hewitt, etc.,

Arrogant of Fed to have a 102-2 record

How arrogant of you to think that ATP reporters and editors wouldn't be humble enough to give Federer accurate listings. They stated "since" his loss to Agassi in 2002 he's only lost 1 time to a 30+er. How dare you.

Yeah, that's exactly what makes it special. If it would just be an ordinary 12 match winning streak it wouldn't be that great. I mean, he beat Nadal twice in that streak, that says a lot for Federer.

And the heavy weights of the current strongest era ever let a 31 year old Fed become No.1 . LOL.

David Ferrer is a better ranked player than del Potro. Roger has never lost to him

Looks like Federer has become the new Andy Murray. Let Mr. Semifinal enjoy his last World Tour Finals.

Ferrer is definitely the lesser player (no slam title and no olympic medal)

omg who cares about that? it's either gold or nothing

Ferrer has a Masters, a couple more finals, more titles, DC won a couple more times - which of course doesn't make up for the lack of majors

i'd say a 12 match winning streak against the best players in the world is pretty damn impressive, has any other player won 12 consecutive matches at the WTF's?

Ferrer is a weird case. He's not a bad player. He's scored more than 1 win vs all the top players: Nadal, Djoko, Murray, Delpo, Berd, Tsonga. But vs Fed he gets dumbstruck and forgets how to play. It's all the more ironical as all the other top players: Nadal, Djoko, Murray, Delpo, Berd, Tsonga have beaten Fed more than once (and I could add ex-top players in the lot like Davy, Nalby or Roddick) when it's obvious Ferrer never will.
In any case, Ferrer is 30, his career is pretty much over. Delpo is still young and has way more potential. Too bad he got slowed down by injury.
