Sweet shot. Federer can hit some nice ones too, just that they take a lot of energy against Nadal's high bouncing balls, which was quite obvious by the 4th set at the RG final.

    What an awesome get!

However, Gasquet would do just fine for backhand lessons. Sampras's backhand, except in highlight reels such as the one posted, was nowhere near as good as Federer's. Or Kuerten's. Or Gasquet's. It was effective and occasionally offensive but technically flawed, hit with a weirdly bent elbow.

Even Sampras will acknowledge that Federer's backhand is far and away superior to his.

Yep, but not TheNatural. For some reason he/she is "naturally" disposed to discredit Federer in any way possible. ;)

Sampras never had to deal with hitting against such high kicking shots as Nadal's.

While I am not jumping on the idea of the OP, I must point out that Sampras faced lefty's with heavy topspin such as Muster. He was the Nadal of his generation.
