On CLAY, GRASS, HARD, SOFT, ETC.
I'd risk to bet that Fed's just getting in some clay match play before RG, and before the baby arrives - prob making him miss Madrid and/or Rome
2013 Monte Carlo
Even though he'd probably lose in the QF or SF, the tourney just became interesting.
I think Monte carlo will be much more fun with Roger in it. He might take out Novak for Rafa. and who knows, maybe Edberg got a plan to beat Rafa too
Hehe that was funny
But I don't think Djokovic has a much harder time beating Nadal on clay than on any other surface. On hard court I'd give him 70% chance of winning, and on clay about 50%.
If he takes a wild card, doesn't that mean that he'll probably face some high seeds like rafa right away? He might face rafa in the first or second round lol.
Novak wouldn't want to face Roger so early on clay IMO.
Reaching the semis is good enough for Fed at this point, he should save it for RG (but if he faces Nadal is and will be an exercise in futility:cry.
By then, he should just save it for Wimbledon.;-) And perhaps a double, bagging the USO as well, um-hmm?
Depending on the draws, Federer has a reasonable shot at making the SF (at worst) of every tournament and a decent shot at winning any if he avoids Nadal. This includes clay courts.
The only reason Federer's chances of winning on clay seem worse than other places is because the chances of avoiding Nadal are much lower on that surface, but the chance is still there. Take Nadal out of the way, and his chances of winning any clay tournament aren't much different than on hard courts. Federer is a great and underrated clay court player because Nadal's presence prevented him from racking up more titles and nobody cares about runner-ups that much.
Kinda hope Federer beats Djokovic and Rafa for the title.
