Al Ghareeb is serving very well and Fed keeps hitting surprisingly many shots out. I'm watching the match and can't believe what I'm seeing.

Close first set 7/6 (7/5) the advantage here is in experience..

Al Ghareeb is a fighter & he made a match of it.

Federer always has problems with guys he's never played before. Plus this is his 1st tournament in about a month. Berdych may give him some problems.

Berdych couldnt even get passed Vik, Roger needs to start bringing it, he was 2 out of 16 on break points.

Whats unbelievable is that Al Ghareeb is only a futures player. He doesnt even play at he challenger level! Either an amazing effort from him or an amazingly bad effort from Fed (or both).

Fed looked like he didn't care. All those balls he shanked, he just never tried to hustle and get there as fast as he usually does, poor footwork. He just wanted to cruise through. He did. Awful match.

Al Ghareeb was playing well, and especially serving well. Fed really had trouble in the first set to keep up with him, Ghareeb actually won more points in that set. The second set was a bit better for Fed, he didn't have trouble keeping his serve.

In the interview on the court after the match Fed said he wasn't really surprised by the way Ghareeb was playing, he said he had played with him before (I think he said it was last year in Dubai, a practice session, but not sure about that).

I wish I could see these matches, I've got a major Fed jones right now. Is Roger still trying to protect the ankle or what?
