Nadal is only 26 and has taken more time off because of injuries. Federer turned 31 and hasn't missed a grand slam yet.

And I'm out, got to remind myself to not get suckered into this again. I'm sure you're going to have some comeback, good for you.

Yeah I must have remembered it wrong. Unlike the rest of the general pro section idiots, I don't follow and report on the pros like they're my siblings. :)

Fed tanked the match for his friend Ben in a Mickey Mouse match. It doesnt matter.

    All that counts is 17 > 11 > 6 > 1.

rafa might fall below del potro by the french open..he may miss HC masters in march depending on his condition, also has loads of clay points to defend till paris..

but he could still be no 5 rank also :)

Are youu sure? I can pick out an idiot from that section even if I close my eyes, and randomly point at the screen. Then I'll get one of the following:

    1) Pointed at an idiot
    2) Pointed at a stupid thread
    3) Pointed at a stupid thread started by an idiot

It doesn't matter what Nadal's ranking is. Nadal is the most dominant Roland Garros player ever and has a winning H2H against the rest of the big 4. Nadal can cause even more damage being seeded lower. :p

And Federer is the most dominant, period.

Damn it, I'm falling into the trap again. Got to find another form of entertainment...

Wrong. Nadal lost to #73. But nice attempt at trying to rewrite history. Benneteau's ranked 39.

Federer always struggles to put Benneteau to bed, he plays good tennis, good win.

It seems Federer is always susceptible to a loss from a player playing with more passion than his (zero) passion. Especially if they're French (Simon, Monfils, Benneteau). :p

Federer vs. Benneteau matches are usually entertaining*; this one was no exception as they both play real tennis.

I liked the all court play and the aggressiveness from both players. Julien took his chances going for winners on several occasions, displayed several different forms of attacking tennis: building points from the baseline, serve & volley as well as charging the net after a solid approach shot.

The younger players can learn a lot from these guys.

"If you lose your serve five times, like I did today, you can't win indoors," Federer told reporters. "Julien played great, created more chances than I did and fully deserved to win.

"I fought back at the end of the second set and had chances to take it into a third but that would have been more luck than I deserved."

    Arrogant as usual.

Everyone has an opinion on what is real tennis. were you as outraged when Nadal said sampras didn't play real tennis ;)

Personally i like a good mix. neither the grind fests nor non stop aces.

Happy for Benneteau, would be great if he wins this.
I always feel sorry for very capable players who just never won a tournament.

I know, aggressive attacking tennis that doesnt rely on 30 stroke rallies.

If Federer is Benneteau's pigeon, Federer must be a microbe in the poop produced by Nadal's pigeon. 2-8 in the slam h2h, 0-2 in the hard-court slam h2h, and 10-18 overall. Where it counts. :p

As Nadal's slam count stalls — the way things are going it's feasible both Fed and Rafa win only one more slam each — expect to hear that H2H trotted out even more (and you didn't think it possible).

Hmm, Federer has about 6000 points from Rotterdam till the end of Wimbledon.
I guess he lost about 500 from it.

    Yeah, I guess so.

Still, he got back to #1 just enough to break "weeks spent at #1" (in addition to winning Wimbledon #7) so I guess it's okay.

He's capable but never won a tournament because he can't string together 3 or 4 great matches in a row. That's why he has a LOSING overall record.

In all honesty, Federer did not look like he wanted to be in Rotterdam. His win over the WC Thiemo de Bakker in the Round of 16 wasn't real sharp, IMO. And, then he came out and looked lax from the start against Bennetteau and was getting taken to the woodshed for the better part of a set and a half before he tried to crank it up. I believe he came from 2 breaks down to get the second set even before losing at the end.

I expect him to look a little more focused in Dubai, but we'll see.
