Murrays FH just shows the court isn't that slow. Federer is playing with more spin and not enough sting on his groundies.

I'm expecting a sudden serve breakdown by Murray soon honestly. Maybe not this game, but at least next set, it's bound to happen.

I don't want to say Murray is playing well, just consistent and playing off of Roger's faults. I think Djokovic will destroy him if the match goes the way of this set.

Murray won't be giving him any help like in their past slam final encounters :)
Murray has been solid on serve, I think his serve is underrated.

1st set Murray, Fed needs to rethink some of his tactics maybe. And also start serving.

In this form, Djokovic won't stand a chance in the final

He is competitive but Murray had plenty of BPs, could have easily been a lopsided set.

Fed is hanging in the baseline rallies but he needs to serve better, there's no way around it.

And what part of Murray's consistent hard hitting forehands and serves gave you that conclusion?

Murray takes the first set 6-4

Deserved set from murray, didnt do much wrong there and federer is really not playing bad at all, he's not making that many errors he's just getting outplayed.

This is great tennis tho from both tho, im hoping this goes the distance.

Fed will take the second set. Good hold from Murray but he spent a lot more psychic energy to win that set. In forty minutes it will be one set all.

Murray takes the first set 6 - 4.

He's playing the better tennis, and has adapted to these conditions much better than Federer.

Murray way too strong. Fed isn't flat, he's just not being allowed to play

Agreed. Rog is winning very acceptable no of baseline rallies but murray clearly outserves/returns him.

On his BH, yep. If he hits it harder he will miss a lot more. He prefers hanging in the rally and wait for a chance to bite with his FH. The thing is, Murray just won't let him.

I think Fed's hitting fine overall, he just needs to get more short balls and that's where the serve comes in. He's serving badly.

If Federer continues to serve badly and display a lack of ability to hit winners, he will do well to make the next 2 sets as close as the first one.. and it was only close in score.

Great first set. Murray looking really good, glad to see him serving so well. If he can keep his serves and movement on the same level, he's cruising to the final.

But on the otherhand, you just got to love the Federer's forehand...

Ah, no. If Murray was playing Djokovic, they would be tied 2-2 in the first set still.

Murray's performance against Fed says nothing about how he will do against Djokovic. Federer and Djokovic are way too different.

Fed's definitely having more trouble holding serve and getting into Murray serve games from the end against the wind.

Murray played a great 1st set.

If this is some anti-jinx BS, there is no need for it. Murray is winning comfortably. You don't have to be so scared of a 31-year old.

Loved the serve and volley but he needs to start cracking. I think once he feels his way into the match he'll be fine, and he's playing with more margin too because of the conditions.

Nope. Consistent though. Feel free to take that as well though.

I can't see how you can claim Murray isn't playing well? This isn't Fed from his best days (no matter what people say) but he's still playing well, Murray is hitting the ball very well from the baseline and is also more aggressive than before (that started ever since 2012 AO).

Novak will have his hands full should Murray win (and IMO he will).

It always amazes me how much these threads go in so short of time. Murray's playing very well, Federer fighting to stay close. If he can pull this set out, I think Federer will win. But he needs to get more first serves in with direction, it's costing him atm.

Good hold to start the second set.

As a Fed fan Murray is a step faster, has the better backhand, is serving better, and his forehand has been just as good if not better. Fed better hope Andy drops a level, if not Andy has this wrapped up. Murray is just better in the ground game plain and simple.

I think Djoker is more unpredictable and tends to be error prone. He sometimes takes over a set or so to warm up. Murray, I feel is far more consistent in comparison.

He didn't lose just yet. And if he does, I'll be happy he went down playing pretty well overall, and giving a good fight to a player who was just too good for him today. I feel your need to troll everyone, you miss your little cheating bully, aren't you? :)

I'd miss Fed as well if he was suspended every 2-3 years.
