In his losses against big hitters in the last two years, Federer has struggled big time to put enough returns in a way that neutralizes the first serve.. He is not defending nearly as well as his prime years, so he repeatedly gets yanked side to side behind the baseline.. That's why he has started losing more frequently to the Berdych's/Tsonga's/Soderlings of the world

Tsonga going for the Australian Open Big Four Title.

He's already beaten Murray, Nadal and Djokovic on this very court and this surface. Only Federer remains.

Awesome defense from Roger. Too bad he lost the point in the end.

If you think Federer is playing at the same level tonight as he did in his last 4 matches then you are truly delusional. You can tell there is something wrong with him tonight.

Federer takes the early break. Hopefully he gets that serve level up, starts cruising a bit more. If he holds through the 3rd, I think he will get his act together. Just needs a quick solid service game.

Federer is pressing too much. He's been doing this more in majors the last few years.. I wonder why?

Who was he playing, an old Davydenko, a weakling Tomic, Paire ?
Get a grip old guy. He is feeling the strong groundwork and presence of Tsonga that's why he's feeling the heat and his game is affected. Not this made up injury you're making.

Shortening points, he's having flashbacks of his wimbledon encounter where Tsonga came back from 2 sets down.
