I know. He needs to take his time with this. Tsonga is dangerous, and if he starts making a bunch of errors he will have a bad night. Needs to play restrained aggressive tennis. and not miss easy returns.

It's not Tsonga! Tsonga is playing like crap, too! Tomic was much better! This Federer tonight would have been triple-bageled by Tomic or Davydenko!

I did not expect fed to play this average.

Slice, Federer! I can't believe he's not doing more of that. Slice and get Tsonga to come forward.

You are watching a different match, Tsonga is playing exactly like he should, he came prepared. Fed's nervous but its Tsongma making life hard for him.

Which he usually never does. Maybe Federer caught mono again? He has a history of catching mono down in Australia.

Federer needs to bring his A game if he wants to have any chance of victory.

Fed seems extremely nervous about this match. Tsonga is definitely in his head.

Fed going BH to BH rallies with Tsonga, netting another. Sigh...

Was the same a couple of matches ago. His day match. After 2 games he was completely soaked and the sweat was dripping from his forehead.
Could've been the day heat though, but normally even then he doesn't sweat much

Quick question, as I only woke up 20 mins ago assuming neither man wouldn't end this match in an hour: has federer been wearing the compression shirt all night, or did he put it on after the match began?

If a normal Federer was playing this Tsonga tonight, Federer would have already won the match by now.

I see. I've not be able to watch any of the day matches due to time difference, but yeah still, he's still his freaky non-sweating-self.

Tsoga is just going for it and at this point they all seem to hit the lines. It seems like one of those days.

I t would be better for Fed to attack on his returns and take Tsonga out of his comfort zone( while serving). That's his best bet or lose it in 4.

I feel like the quality really picked up in this set, bot are playing better.

Well it is the right tactic, his execution is just mediocre today.

Fed started being much more aggressive against Jo after that Wimbledon match for a reason.
