Because he is old and inconsistent. He lost a lot of slams looking perfect against random opponents.

Gotta favor Roger. The H2H is really 8-2, as the last match Tsonga won was a walk over since Roger withdrew before playing him. Before that, Roger won the previous 4 meetings. However the past 3 meetings were indoor hardcourt which i would say favor Tsonga in some ways over Fed with the serve especially. I don't think Tsonga has the consistency to take out Roger with how well he is playing.

This. At this stage in Fed's career, he can be in god mode and put on a clinic in one match and be ******** the next. It's happened too many times.

after looking at the H2H i see that roger has owned of late, and that they didn't even play once in 2012... wow.

However, as i said above... too many times i've seen him go from GOAT to just ok play match to match.

I'd rather him have donked off a set to Milos or Davy and still won the match... then see him having "used up" all his good serving and come up dry when it matters.

I do hope he wins because i am excited for a Muderer semi

Tsonga's playing pretty well so far in this tournament, and it's great to see. Still, I pick Federer in four. Tsonga may win a close set (or even blitz a set) but he's still making some rather unfounded choices in shots. Roger's looked too good so far and I don't really see him losing to Jo.

Tsonga's form is only so-so. I expect a repeat of their 2010 AO match (more or less)

Well it was more of a how would Clarky act if she were a Fed fan or if there was her equivalent in Fed's fanbase (a fan who's very pessimistic and superstitious).

Tsonga seems to start off well but loses concentration at some point. If Federer plays anything close to what he played against Tomic (note: not Raonic, Tomic) he should breeze through.

If Tsonga comes in and hammers it like he did at Wimby 2011, then I think he's got a chance at winning this. However, since Wimby 2011, every encounter has gone in favor of Federer, and I don't think Federer is playing badly enough lately to have me believe he will lose to Tsonga. Best I can see is Tsonga taking 1 set, that's all.

Also I don't want to see a Tsonga celebration dance, it's awful and cheezy. Actually what's up with those weird celebrations lately, Raonic looks just as cheezy as Tsonga. Djokovic ripping the shirt off is a bit too over the top for me. I much prefer Federer's calm and classy celebration.

Fed in 4 seems like an absolute lock. I'd like Tsonga to win so that Murray can be fresh going into the final though.

This is how I'm going. Fed might lose a TB. Will not get broken until he plays Murray. Or Chardy. :)

Federer went to S America with Tsonga last month up playing exhibitions.

Smart move getting all the practice you need.

Yes, exactly. Needs to stop smiling when he loses too. Basically needs to watch a few Connors videos to learn how to behave.

I wish 2 of the only aggressive players left in the draw didn't keep meeting up with each other but i guess thats tennis for you. Federer in 4, probably..wouldn't mind Tsonga winning though, as long as he can take out Murray next round too.

To people who think Tsonga is in good form....

    Tsonga vs Gasquet
    1st serve percentage: 55%
    Receiving points won: 34%
Winner to unforced error ratio 1 : 1

    Federer vs Raonic
    1st serve percentage: 64%
    Receiving points won: 36%
Winner to unforced error ratio 2.8 : 1

Tsonga may have won but he's not exactly rocking it - he won less return points than Federer did - versus a much, much worse server. Gasquet is a much better rallier than Raonic so Tsonga had it much harder in terms of the winner to unforced error ratio.

Scorelines for both are hard to look at and tell ultimate form. Neither have really had particularly hard matches. Federer's opponents have been better and more varied in style in-general but whether that means anything going into this next match... who knows?

Connors would want to hug it out with Roger after taking a beating too. Fed is irresistible.

Usually i am not That confident when it comes to Federer. I think hes very Sharp and fresh though and i think rog has got this in 3. From here on though a bad day means hes out of here.

Well duh:) since hes got murray and djokovic left. Although I still think Federer can afford being off in the SF if Murray is off. Federer on his C level beats Murray on his C level.

Also Federer has lost 1/2 of step and this could really hurt him against fleet of foot young Tsonga

Think positive, think like Rafa did. Now Almagro knows he can beat Ferrer. Power of positive thinking. Take the best out of every situation.:)

He knows he cannot beat Ferrer even if Ferrer plays like crap and he plays the best tennis of his life. What is left for him to hang on to?

Yeah, but Murray's not gonna be C level. Neither is Fed I think. But also against Tsonga, he's got to be on every match, which seems hard to predict nowadays (Fed-Berd USO12 exhibit A). However, the way he's playing, he doesn't need to fear anyone either. As long as he keeps up that level.

History has taught us that Tsonga can't beat 2 top players back to back in slams, if he wins this he'll lose to Murray.

Over the last 3 years, Federer has seen his semi final streaks at 3 of the slams come to an end (RG and Wimbledon in 2010 and the USO last year) he is now on 9 consecutive semis at the Australian open and going for his 10th. He has never made 10 in a row at the other 3.

I just have a feeling tsonga will do it in 5.

This event has been about Djokovic, Murray and Federer from the start. I want to see them go head to head. Best against the best.
