I have a feeling Tsonga will win. Hope I am wrong. Would love to see Federer win another WTF title.
Federer will win. Disappointing WTF this year. 3 of the top 4 playing like crap.
Jo was asking for it tho, he does not look at him and acknowledge him arriving
I know right? Especially since he makes the effort to say hi to Murray who is past Jo  Ofcourse Rafa and Roger bromance well and alive there as well.
How about kiss on the lips? Dimitrov style?
Same here man. Then again ever since 2010 I've had a feeling Fed's gonna lose all the matches I watch LOL.
I have no idea what this is, but I am mesmerized.
Paris final Fed won in straights. In the RR match at London, Tsonga faltered at the end of the third set to give Fed the match. I see Tsonga taking this one. Possibly after saving a match point or two ;-) He was my pick as the dark horse for the tournament and a finalist.
His Rogerness to set yet another record in his 100th final.
No, Tsonga will prevail in a 3 set thriller.
Disagree, Fed will put up a masterclass display of tennis and dispose of Jo in straights.
Also Fed is tired, not to mention very old.
Fed is undefeated when he wins...
Wait. someones askin' if the cake is gluten-free.
I will go with Federer smacking Tsonga in 2.
On second thought I'ma go with Tsonga smacking Federer in 2.
Aww, Jo's face....so lost, so sad....sad panda. Fed didn't shake Dahveed's hand either. My favourite thing is Fish's face: "Oh my god Federer, 'Hi Roger, I love you', I just shook his hand! He looks good....."
That was a very telling video. Thanks for posting it.
Did anyone see the handshake between RF and JWTsonga in the RR match? It was cursory at best.
Roger seemed normal. Tsonga avoided eye contact. Very strange. I wonder why?
Tsonga must have done something irreverent, hahah.
12 people have no heart
lol thats funny as hell
maybe rog took jo along from paris to london in his jet.. seeing as they both played the same shift in paris before heading over +g+
no need to say hi again then -.-
Is there something going on between JW and Fed we should know about?! Is Roger still sore over Wimbledon where JW celebrated like he had just won the whole championship?
Come on, people, is there bad blood between Fed and Ferrer too? Nah, he just had seen them and handshaked earlier.
What would he shake hands with Djoker and Murray then?
actually fed and the french players have always gotten along very well. the vid obviously makes it look hilarious but theres nothign wrong between them -.-
the look on jos face is probably just the "man i feel uncomfortbale wearing a suit" look. i know ive got that look every time im in a suit as well
I'm not too confident for tonight. I know Rog has beaten Jo twice in the last 14 days on indoor courts, but it's been very close and I think Jo is even more confident now with his wins over Fish, Berdych and Nadal. He was close every time, so Roger is gonna need something pretty close to his A game to beat Tsonga tonight. I got a feeling he won't start as bad as he did the last few times against Roger.
Interesting little fact:
There've been 14 WTF finals with two players who met in the round robin.
In 8 of those 14 matches, the loser of the RR match went on to win the final match.
Its interesting all of them were just kind of milling around alone and not speaking to each other.
Kind of interesting indeed. I don't think Federer will win easily, that's for sure. Fed is up against it. He can lose to any of the top 8 these days except maybe for Ferrer. He can still beat them all as well though.
delpo in 0
Yeah but did you see their last indoor meeting, in this year's World Tour Finals round-robin stage? Tsonga did not play well but almost won, and he's played better with each match since then, while Federer appears to have played his way out of form. Tsonga in 2.
You might not be far off.
Perhaps. The biggest knock on Federer is that he can no longer maintain his highest level. He won Basel and Paris and we will now see if he can maintain it by playing his toughest opponent in the final match of a span of 3 events.
Covering all your bases I see. Nice!
Federer wins this in two! Can visualise no other result.
If Fed is as determined, confident and playing well as he was against Nadal. He'd win. My guess however is that he won't play that well.
So you're saying a geriatric rusty out-of form Fed in decline did this? Wonderful.
Those 2 words are like manna from heaven.
I hope the real Rogerness comes out today.
High first serve percentage, winning all points on serve, converting all break points. No shanks or mishits.
I see the Gambler's Fallacy coming into effect here in this thread.
Gambler's Fallacy is a form of fallacious reasoning and a typical cognitive bias. If, for example, you're at a casino playing roulette, and say black has come up five times in a row, most will intuitively (but incorrectly) judge that red is more likely to come up next or that red is "due", even though the odds are still 50/50 for either colour. The so-called Law of Averages is false and has no merit in statistical mathematics.
Because Federer has won twice against Jo in a fortnight, everyone, including me... intuitively senses that it's Jo's time this time around. Crazy how that works.
Just wanted to point that out.
I think Feds efficiency will make him win tonite.
Chair umpire is Steve Ullrich
So no matter what the score will be, it'll sound awesome
I want Roger to win, but Tsonga will win in 2. Tsonga won't take a third defeat from Roger.
Actually it would be his 4th, USO Paris WTF RR and soon to be WTF Finals...
Yeah, but here are 2 humans. One's getting hungrier with each loss. The other one could be feeling the pressure of a streak. Although, i don't think Fed has a streak on Jo, but i believe winning streaks put some pressure.
BTW, where is veroniquem? I miss her
Would love to see Tsonga win. C'mon!!!
I think Fed can get tight when history is on the line. Like in AO2009, I think that was the real reason he cried, because he wanted to make history in front of those legends. Fed has such a thing for the history of tennis that maybe it will be stressful, and maybe it will be less so since it's not a GS.
True about the Gambler's Fallacy. Except that Jo beating Fed is not 50/50. It depends on many factors. If Fed twisted his ankle at the end of his last match, the likelihood of Jo winning goes up.
Anyone know what the match timings and TV schedule are on the east coast?
Ok never mind found it on espn2 at 12.30 pm eastern
I guess you haven't been watching this week. Federer has played worse in each match since the win over Nadal. He has played himself out of form. Tsonga meanwhile has done the opposite.
I know. And as someone else said these are two humans. There are many factors that decide the outcome.
I was merely pointing out that I sensed some people, including myself, had this subtle gut feeling that that law of averages might come in to play... Fed won the last two, so based on that it's more likely Tsonga will pull this one out if you held everything else equal and constant.
That's all. Tsonga may well win today, but it will be because of a number of factors, not law of averages.
That's only true if the likelihood of winning and losing did not change with increased observations. A match is not a coin flip where the distribution is known and iid. Matches are more in the vein of price discovery, wherein increased observations and 'trades' quickly converge towards the true value, or in this case, ratio, of wins-losses. Those two prior wins are indicative of Federer's form and matchup advantage against Tsonga.
There is no advantage according to their meeting in the round-robin stage. Tsonga simply played a poor service game right at the end. So the only question would be 'will Tsonga throw away his service game late in the final set?'
And if we go by semi-final form, Tsonga is playing better than Federer right now.
Looking forward to this match. I hope Roger wins. Could be tough though.
