what's the deal with this walkover. Federer just made it to the quarter finals without out playing a single point. he'll definitely have more advantage over agassi if he makes it to the qf's.

You see guys? You see? This is what I've been saying all along. I swear, this should be called the Swiss Open, because it's such a blatent conspiracy to get Federer to hoist the trophy this year. There's absolutely nothing wrong with Pavel, unless you think getting a big chunk of money in your Swiss bank account is wrong.

Good luck Old Man Agassi, good luck. May you foil the plans of these conspiracists, and claim what is rightfully yours, a mano-y-mano showdown with Andy Roddick in the finals.

    Thank you and God bless.

What a sham. This proves unequivocally that the US Open is rigged in favor of Swiss players. Federer didn't have to set foot on a court to get to the QFs. Meanwhile, the two remaining Americans have to sweat it out by actually playing opponents to advance in their draw. The American players should complain about this obvious favoritism. It reeks.

That sucks for Pavel. Herinated disc can mess you up for a while. Moya had a stress fracture, but herinated disc could put him out for a while too. Hope he gets back.

    Fed will kill Agassi now.

Yea Fed will probably beat Agassi, shame he's going down to Tim in the Semi's hey?

That Herniated Disc sounds pretty bad, he's not having much luck is old Andrei.

You're stupid. The guy got injured so he can't play. Also, Federer is like the only Swiss player in the top 100000000.

I see no motive for the USTA to conspire to make Federer's draw easier. The US in the USTA stands for United States, so clearly they favor players from the US to advance. And I think they know that Agassi's chances don't increase this way. Don't be ridiculous. The USTA doesn't change its policy from year-to-year too much, so I am still pretty certain they are trying their hardest to get an Agassi-Roddick final.

If the agenda was to get Agassi in the final. Why in the heck would you put him with Federer in a QF match up? That would be the stupidest thing to do. Federer is 3-0 against Agassi in the last 3 matches they played and the #1 player in the world.

You would change his seed and put him in a QF match up with the 3rd seed Moya.

Poor Pavel. I hope this is not going to hurt him for too long, he's already 30. I actually thought he is one of the players who came back really strong after injuries since last year. He was playing well and beating many top players in earlier year, including Hewitt but unfortunately he draw Federer early rounds in at least 3 tournaments.

I was actually looking forward to this match.

[Mal Washington Mode]Yeah, I really empathize with Pavel as I just came off of a herniated disc which took me out of tennis for months and the effects and fear are still with me. Exactly like Pavel said, I had trouble just putting on my socks, let alone tying my shoes. The best thing for him now, is to take a rest, avoid a situation that completely demands surgery if possible, and maybe look into aquatic exercise alternatives. I really feel for this guy. [/Mal Washington Mode]

Okay... so what I said in the above is more or less true, just had to poke a bit of fun at Mal there (but to be honest, Mal doesn't drive me nuts as much as he apparently drives others nuts, but maybe I have high tolerance levels hehe). In my case, it's not like I'm an ATP player so I can't really "empathize" but yeah :) Herniated or slipped discs... REALLY SUCKS!!!! (And somehow, during recovery of the disc, I developed runner's knee  )

I was looking forward to this match too...
