Clay represents 40% of the tours tournaments. Sampras won 3 claycourt tournaments in 16 years on tour.

Ergo, Sampras was a non-factor on 40% of the tour.

Exactly! Which is precisely why I don't consider Sampras a candidate for GOAT! Agreed?

Then you shouldn’t have any problem with people including Jenny believe Roger is a better than Pete. Exactly!

It's not necessarily my belief but it's possible that Roger may be better than Pete. He's just not the GOAT, that's all!

You may not think so but other fans DO believe that’s he a goat b/c he did what he had to do: 1) win that elusive slam(RG), 2) Broke Pete’s GS record.
    That’s all!

TMF- Disagree. Federer couldn't conquer the greatest rival of his own generation but he's the GOAT? LOL!

    Chad- agreed!

Maybe I didn’t make myself clear. A few years back and up to 2009, people demand that Roger has to accomplish 2 things in order to solidify him as a goat. One is he must win a career slam, and two is to break Pete’s record. Since Roger fulfill all of the requirements, he’s a goat in their eyes. You may disagree but not most fans.

Who is 'they'? 'They' isn't the whole world, so please try to stop passing off their comment as the world-view. It isn't!

You should try to undertstand simple logic. If one cannot even conquer the greatest rival of his own generation, how can he possible be considered the greatest of all time? Let's see if there is anything he can do, as unlikely as it is, to solve Rafa Nadal and then we'll get back to the GOAT discussion.

But in the interests of being a gentleman, I'll say feel free to chant the Federer GOAT mantra if it helps you sleep better at night! LOL!

FANS of tennis have set the goal for Roger since the day he became #1.

H2h has little or nothing significant according to most fans(except you). The entire playing field is where you have to beat and win, not one player. Everyone acknowledge it including Sampras himself, and that's why he declared Roger is the greatest(of course, except you).

TMF ... the highlighted part below is laughable! On this forum alone, many do not consider Federer the GOAT. Yet you continue to speak for ALL fans, blind to the realities!

    And many DO!

And I think most would agree with me that winning slams is responsible for beating all the very best(entire field), not just one player. It's only a few like you cherry pick certain stats just to undermine Federer, when we all know every greate players have more negative stats then Federer.

ksbh, it seems like you think neither Sampras nor Federer is the GOAT. In that case, who do you think is the GOAT? (Laver, Borg, etc...) Or do you refuse to name anyone as the GOAT?

CM ... in my opinion, there is just no objective way to nominate the GOAT. There are just too many factors that can go for or against any potential GOAT (For example, the most popular ones being Sampras' lack of clay accomplishments or Federer's H2h against Nadal).

If pressed to pick one, I'd go with Rod Laver. Again, that's a subjective opinion ... I never saw the man play!

Actually, why not compare your countryman with Lendl? Djokovic is one of Federer's competitors, of course, and Federer's second best rival in last 3 years.

Do you think that Djokovic is no worse than Lendl? Considering that you are from Serbia, that must be a source of great pride to you.

Essentially, he was accusing today's players of being devoid of any talent whatsoever, so I said that Federer and Nadal have cast a pall over the latest tennis generation and it's unfair to say that Lendl and a few other players were MUCH more talented because they managed to win more slams since they didn't have one or two players that were head and shoulders above them in the history books. It's a little more complicated than that, but that's what TheUsualSuspects has dwindled it to.

He's now made it his own personal crusade to misrepresent my statement around the boards. Why he's going through this trouble? I'm not so sure, I think it's something about being Texan or something? He's even taken quotes from statements I've made and edited them to suit his purpose, which I'm pretty sure is a bannable offense, but I'm not 100% sure.

Unable to get any kind of support in his obsession with me, he's singled out a couple of posters to try to get some aid in what have become personal attacks, like calling me a highly judgmental Texan, whatever that means. It's not like I'm the one stalking people. He thinks that since you're both from Serbia (even though he pretends to not be), you'll go down to his level.
