Now that Federer has been #1 for 300 weeks, I think his next goals should be:

306 - this would be 3X as long as Nadal's weeks at #1
378 - this would overtake Steffi Graf for the most weeks at #1 by male or female. Unfortunately, I think this might be out of Roger's reach. (Reaching 333, and passing Navratilova's weeks at #1 would be awesome, considering in early 2011 she stated that Roger would never return to #1.)

If Fed made 306 weeks, the only place it would have any added value would be on TTW where the Church of Federer would let all the Nards know about it. 378 means another year and a half at the top which is frankly not even close to likely, I'm not convinced he will even keep playing for that long.

LOL, I don't even know about that. A friend who casually watches tennis noticed a news headline that Federer secured being number one for 300 weeks and asked me, "how many weeks has Nadal been number one? like 100weeks?" I said, "yes that is correct." He replied, "And how are they even considered rivals?"

300 is another benchmark, just like his 17 grand slam titles.

True, because he broke the record which Sampras held over a decade. But the benchmark doesn't stay at 287, it will be at what number he end up with.

Let's be realistic, he will lose #1 in Paris, so that would be 303 weeks....

He might even lose it at Basel. I believe Murray is playing, so it won't be easy.

They are seeded 1 & 2. Basel is indoors, Murray is toast.

    He will win Basel.

I think he will lose it in Paris and maybe he will have a few more weeks (4/5) in the first half of 2013 if he does well at AO/IW/Miami and Djokovic not so good.

    He will not reach 310.

Yep, better not to focus on his poor slam H2H with Nadal. Because that record isn't important to Federer fans.

If he could get to 350 that would be an awesome number, but he would be halfway to 33 at that time, and that is sadly something I can't foresee. Would be equally fun if Federer retired at #1 with Nadal unable to ever get there again.

Anyway, huge props to Fed for getting to 300!

If it's important for him, he should just try and stay there for as long as he can so it'll be harder for the next great champion to surpass him. 306, 350, 375 they're all just numbers at the end of the day. They don't matter all that much.

As I always say, Nadal won the battle with Federer, but Federer clearly won the war with Nadal and all other competition.

    312 has to be

    52 weeks a year x 6 years = 312 weeks.

    That is the next milestone

Keep clinging to that one stat like a life preserver, you don't appear pathetic at all!

The real head to head: 17 to 11

Not to mention 76 to 50

Plus I might add, 6 to 0 at the WTF

I wouldn't think he cares now. The aesthetic mark of 300 has been reached - from now on it's trying to snag another slam and he should be well enough placed to do that from one to four. I imagine he could hold onto a top four spot for another two to three years barring injury or a drop in motivation.

Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.'

Definitely. He's got 9 indoor titles, compared to 5 for Djokovic and 1 for Nadal. He's also 2-3 with Federer indoors, so it's not a given that Federer will win, especially since Murray leads the overall head-to-head 9-8.

If you think that there are as many Nadal glory hunters on these forums as Fed ones, you haven't been around here very long. There's one lunatic Nadal fan that changes his profile about every six months and is largely ignored by everybody, especially Nadal fans; there about four other Nadal fans. About 90% of the threads here are about the divine beauty of Fed and are littered with embarrassing, to say the least, GIFs and other sundry love notes to Fed.

Which is why Andy Murray is the second best indoor player.

Tsonga and Soderling, before he left, also have claims to be some of the better indoor players, with 6 and 7 titles respectively.

Players don't even remember their own h2hs...sometimes they have a general feeling of what it is. But would anyone have just a "general feeling" of how many grand slam trophies they had or how many years they finished #1 in? Haha. Looks like you're the deluded one here.

There aren't as many Nadal fans, full stop. but a lot of Nadal fans are Nadal fans in the first place because he beats federer and stopped him winning everything. sorry that's the way it is and i can understand it too. you can see from the huge number of Nadal fans who hate federer despite the fact that federer has denied Nadal fairly little in his career. thus the hate doesn't come out of their rivalry, its already there and people like Nadal because he beats the player they hate. you can also find Nadal fans who loved nole when he was another threat to federer but hated him when he challenged Nadal. i notice quite a few Nadal fans love Murray now probably because he is challenging fed and djokovic but hasn't really done that well vs Nadal of late.

Gloryhunter is a bold statement to make though. Nadal is not exactly a minor title winner and we all tend to like guys who win big titles. but i liked federer when he had no slams and the sane goes for djokovic and del potro. sometimes the guys you like happen to be successful.

I wonder if federer has that much motivation left, i understand that his main aim this year was probably to get back to no.1 and he has done that, he has the most weeks at no.1, the most grand slams which i don't think will be beaten...so I wonder what his motivation is now
