I'm sure this has been discussed but I wasn't able to find anything on it besides a few pictures. What was Federer's setup for his Pro Staff 6.0 before switching to the 6.1? I guess it was something close to Sampras but I saw a video of the young federer on youtube and you can see his racquet clearly at 1:38 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jwh0GfA_eo Seems like an L3 grip with tourna but no visible lead tape at 3/9

You can really see his grip size in the that shot? I cant. And it looks like The Pro Staff 6.0 before his Tour 90

Well I can't tell for sure but it definitely looks smaller than L4

Otherwise the drills really are excellent, I'll try the serve drill I bet it will help my toss and stance a lot

I believe it was the Chinese PS 6.0 Most likely L3 grip and I believe this was pre 2001 and that should mean he was using a full VS string bed

This isn't a fact but 90% of players seem to be using L3 or L4 (especially L3), L2 for the clay-courters, L5 for some offensive players. Even the huge guys use L3 now. I guess they're copying Federer.

*I also use L3 but I overlap the leather a lot as well as 2-3 heavily overlapped tournas which brings me to about L5  I still measure L8 though

I guess he used lead at 3/9 even though it's invisible on the picture. Or maybe he didn't use any?
