I was watching Roger play yesterday and noticed that when he hit the ball there was a distinctively different sound. Is that because he actually did switch to the blx tour 90 and isn't using a pj?

It's your stereo system making that sound.

The sound broadcast quality was very good at this AO 2010. I could actually hear who was using a dampener and who wasn't.

Henin's frame was so pingy, i couldn't believe it.

The reason I never turned pro. I have to fart when I'm playing and those courtside mics pick up everything. Killed my career.

I'm sure your incredible hearing can distinguish the different chemical compounds in his equipment.

You don't think that it might have something to do with different types of balls, surface or maybe even the acoustics that might relate to the architecture of the stadium? Seriously, the acoustics in every stadium are different. And I don't think you have dog hearing where you can distinguish the thud that comes from his racquet from when he last played at USO. And you can really distinguish that through the filters of television? Give me a break.

This really ought to go in tennis tips/instruction but the trick is to time the expulsion of flatus correctly as you're propelling upwards. With the proper technique you can get as much as 10mph on your serve. Needless to say, Federer has mastered all this, explaining the peculiar sound the OP picked up on. It's no BLX.

I think he still uses the PS 6.0 that got the heck painted out of it but dunno, if it had to be whatever-coded it can't be n-coded or BLX-ed, there's only a slight chance it can be K-factored, but unlikely

Typical.... Federer thread turned into fart jokes ... LOL , anyways - yes I did notice the change in sound , I have 5.1 channel surround with AC3 encoded video of Nadal/Fed Aus2009 final & it does sound a lot different & actually sounds like Fed is hitting a heavy ball ( which I beleive he is - my guess is he may have loaded his frame a little heavier than his previous one ) - now if he really switched from K90 ( which if it ever was - it was a paintjob in my book ) - whatever it is his hits sound heavier this year (2010) , looks heavier & I'd have given my soul to see another Nadal/Fed Final with Fed's new setup caz I believe even if Nadal was as fit as 2009January - I think Fed would have countered him better with this setup. No Bashing please - I love them both.
