TW Site says Ferrer is using the Prince EX03 Tour 16x18.

    True?

Can anyone out there confirm what stick he is actually using out there?

In these threads, people either "think" or "heard a rumor," usually on line at a convenience store. You need to point the "J" beacon at the sky to summon jura.

    Hey there,

David Ferrer is using an Extended ozone tour 16x18. Currently Strung in Full Big Banger Original 24kg mains 23kg crosses. So no Exo3 Tour 100. Its a paint job.

jura also has him at 332g 32.1 cm unstrung, which would translate to c.a. 350g, 33cm strung. Keep in mind this is extended length (28" would be my guess, since he used the Original Graphite Whatever) so around 6 pts headlight

A commentator said it was 29" and there is a big gap between the two hands on the backhand and it seemed more like an 18/20 but I didn't pay too much attention.

The only thing I know is that Ferrer stills use a racket with round o-ports, but got a paintjob of the Exo3 Tour. So he's definitely not using the actual Tour.

I don't know why they feel like they have to be deceptive, people don't like being deceived, we are smart enough to realize that they like the racket they have used and won with, by Prince or whoever. They don't need to change! Why do they feel they have to do this! They should have real racket specs out there for us, strings, lbs, racket models and modifications. LOL don't know what is in my food today lol

I remember watching the Federer/XAVIER MALISSE match when Darren Cahill commented that he believes Malisse uses a 28", possibly 29" racquet because it looks so long. I don't remember them saying anything about Ferrer's racquet.

It definitely is at least 28". Many pros are playing with longbody racquets but they are obviously pro stock. I have bought quite a few of them and have seen some pro stock racquets around in pro shops (trade ins, my local pro shop had a female doubles' player's o3 tour that is 28" long).

Now, with a lot of these frames, the handle is really long, with a midplus head, it looks even longer. I play with Prince Diablo XP OS, which is also 28" long but it doesn't appear as long when you compare it to a longbody midplus like a graphite longbody or an o3 tour longbody (I have two of the coria option 2 o3 tours).

One poster said Ferrer's racquet is 27.8 inches long. It might have been Jura.

No, they're painted. If you look very closely, you can see the circular O ports.

It's a good optical illusion though. Almost as good as the painted "flexpoints" from head.

It appeared on TV that he had some lead tape on the outside of the throat as well.

I don' think the players want to deceive, it's the equipment sponsors. Players are usually pretty attached to their frames, so they're not going to change everytime their sponsor unveils a new frame lineup (every two years). The manufacturers know that players are great advertising (otherwise why give them equipment and, for some players, pay them), so they probably insist on paint jobs in order to advertise their current frames and get more people to buy them.

So, I don't expect paint jobs to change, but I would like to see the true specs of the frames just out of curiosity.

That is one excellent paint job! Ferrer could easily switch, but with his living on the line you can understand why he does not.

Yes, it's a nice optical illusion: painting rectangles around circles. The actual EXO3 port rectangles are more narrow as well.

During the Ferrer-Murray match, one of the commentators said Ferrer's racquet is 2 inches longer than standard.

But it remains to be seen whether he is correct.

    Mallise 28 inch frame (Diablo pj = TC55P-100 M3-2A 28").
Ferrer was 27,8 inches (info for Vendetta DB pj = TC82P-97 H1-5B 27.8").

IIRC it was Chris Fowler that said that and he usually has zero insight on any equipment comments that he makes.
