Safin's serve was pretty huge today but his forehand - he was spraying shots all over the place and he seemed to have trouble putting Massu away.
He's still got a bit of 'choke-itis' inside him, I think.

Ferrero and Safin have a mini-rivalry going on: 10 matches...7 on clay...4-3 to JCF.
    Should be good.

What do you think went wrong with these 2 guys apart from Federer taking all the trophies?

JCF will win. He seems to have found his power and speed again.

    DAMN YOU ESPN!
If I ever win the lottery, I'm definitley going to buy some of ESPN to make sure they cover the important stuff like tennis over Bass fishing and arm wrestling tournaments.

Actually, both players played poorly, tons of errors and breaks. Safin had a 4-1 lead in the first, let Massu back in. Was serving for the match at 5-3 in the second, but blew it.

I'm a big Safin fan, but that was not a confidence building win.

Even though Marat was able to win in straight sets; he had a lot of trouble finishing off Massu. He faces Ferrero in the 2nd round where he will be the underdog. These two played here 2 years ago. I predict the same result. Ferrero in 3 sets.

They played thrice in that clay season 2 years back. Ferrero won in straights in Monte Carlo, and won in 3 in Hamburg. However, Safin won their highest quality match of the three at Roland Garros in 4 tight sets. Tommorow's match depends on which Safin shows up. Either way, Federer will play an interesting 3rd round match. Wait, it's no more a surity that Fed will get to the 3rd!

    Amazing!

Two of the players, I wish to regain their forms! Either way, I hope they are inspired by the chance to give Federer a gentle push down the slide to his career.

Federer was fortunate, Juan Carlos had to play Marat Safin, till midnight last night. Federer sucks and will never win the French.
