I'm on the road and miss my tennis channel, does anyone watch streaming tennis on a laptop while traveling. Doing some research I've found three sites :www.livetennis.org, tennistv.com and justin.tv. Anyone have experience with these? Would a big screen laptop like 17"-20" on the motel bed be big enough for viewing?

    Thanks for any opinions.

I subscribed to tennistv after we canceled directTV with TC. Overall I am happy but there have been a few frustrations.

Good things: Lots of matches, good commentators, stream usually seems to be decent, though quality does fluctuate (this could be my wireless--don't know how it would work from a motel as I've only watched at home). Mobile app works okay. When the stream is smooth and video quality is high it's a a great viewing experience, and a laptop should work just fine (though I prefer to plug in to the TV with an HDMI cable). Actually even watching on the iPhone is surprisingly functional.

Bad things: LOTS of tournaments blacked out in the US (take a close look at what you'll actually get to avoid disappointments). No majors. Stream occasionally drops for no apparent reason and you have to refresh to get it going again.

Pet peeve (this applies to all streaming services I know of): when watching a recording of an earlier match, the little bar at the bottom of the video tells you how much match is left-- so you can be pretty sure after the first set whether it went 3 sets or not. This gives away the finish quite often and I think it's kinda dumb.

BTW I think a lot of matches are streamed on ESPN3 so you might want to check that out as well.

Thanks for the tips folks, especially Avles for the detailed reply. I'll get cracken' on the project and start thinking about getting a big screen Mac laptop for the road. Or, could an HDMI cable be plugged into the flat-screen TV's now being found in hotel/motels? Could I plug my Dell Notebook into one of these and use it as a monitor?

It depends on, but most likely yes. What kind of hotel doesn't have ESPN2?

Depends on whether the notebook and the TV have an (available) HDMI port, I guess. I am using an oldish Macbook and had to buy a mini-DVI to HDMI adapter to make it work.

Come to think of it, I wonder if Chromecast would work with TennisTV...

The other alternative is to try one of those streaming sports sites like vipbox.tv. I used this exclusively when I lived overseas to watch football games. A little annoying with all the Flash ads, but a good free option.

Works great when watching WatchESPN, ESPN3. No commercials. Btw, anyone stream TTC via their app on their mobile?
