I have not played any competitive tennis in over 10 years (since college) and I've entered a 9.0 combined men's doubles charity tournament coming up in a little over a week.

In your experience, do these types of tournaments have a lot alternate formations or do the teams play more vanilla doubles? Any other stories you want to share are welcome as well. I'll be curious to find out how my experience compares to others.

at 9.0 combined, you will likely see good competition and may see planned poaches, Australian formation, and other advanced tactics including chip and charge and server and volley.

I play lots of league tennis and I see this at the 4.0 and 4.5 levels and that's what you are likely to see at 9.0 tourney.

Having said above, you still will see a lot of teams that play pretty much straight up and only look for opportunistic poaches. Less common to see signals, Aussie formation and planned poaches.
