My friend wants me to teach him how to serve better but the only serve he can do now is an extreme slice serve which is really inconsistent. Should I help him on his slice serve first? then go into flat then kick?

Concentrate on his toss first....Probbly the most inconsistant and debilitating thing at the club level. Once he gets the toss consistant..start him with a flat and see how that works out. Stress propper motion and form. As he learns that, exlpain to him the propper slice motion, for instance use phrases like "swing it like you'd throw an axe at a tree" etc so he can visualize it.

Slice will probbly be the easiest to teach him personally, but if you teach it first, his form may be unfixable to do anything else.
