    Hello,

    Just asked for a couple of racquets from TWE's demo program. Received the racquets today, nice state, maybe a slight scratch on the head of one of these if you have bionic eyes. I'm just curious about the string used on these racquets. It's a black string. When pulled it snaps back, which means that it's likely a monofilament co-polyester. All writings are unreadable. Can I have more information on it, and if possible the range of tension?

    More or less unrelated to this, am I allowed to change the overgrip of a racquet if it gets used? I automatically added one on the Wilson Blade BLX (gold/black), because as the TWUSA review mentioned, it felt slippery. I did not use the small part that is supposed to be stuck onto the grip so it wouldn't make the grip sticky though. The other racquet is a Babolat Pure Storm Ltd. (+), which comes with a leather grip and was sent with an overgrip on it in order to protect the grip.

    Thanks in advance.

    Moving this to the TWE section as they can answer it better than I can.

    @Lukhas,

    Sorry, we don't have has as many people working the message boards here and don't check the board in the weekends so we sometimes don't get to things as quickly as we'd like. Apologies!

    As for strings, it depends what racket you're referring to:
    Wilson= Luxilon Savage
    Babolat= RPM Blast

    They'll both be strung around mid range on each racket depending what the tension requirements are so if it's 50-60lbs, we'll do it around 55lbs, etc.

    For grips, as long as you're not messing it up, you're fine to do that. Let me know if you have any more questions

    That's fine. Both racquets had a smooth string. Racquets were a Blade 98 BLX (2011) and a Pure Storm Ltd. Plus.

    @Lukhas,

    The strings will be the ones I mentioned in the previous message. Like you said, both are polyesters and are designed for players with longer fast strokes. They will allow you to swing faster and produce more spin, yet still have the ball drop in the court. Let me know if you have any more questions.

    Thanks. Last question (I won't bother you anymore after that I promise): any idea about the string gauge used please?

    @Lukhas,

    Ha ha no problem, ask away! 99% of the time the gauge is 16. Once in a blue moon it'll be 17, but that's not very often.
