Hi,
I recenty received a coaching tip to have my racket pointing half up and half to the side rather than 100% up in the unit turn/backswing to shorten swing/better time the ball. This picture below from a youtube video resembles this way that my coach teached.
Problem when doing this is, my wrist "locks in" to this closed position that makes my wrist stay in that closed/sideways angled position during impact, leading me this mishit balls. Didn't have this problem and being loose and flexible in the wrist is one of my biggest focuses. I don't know if the problem is that i'm not achieving the backswing "loop" proberly with this technique, or some other problem.
1) Any advice on whats causing and how to solve it?
2) I saw the advice of "leading with the buttcap" in the forehand swing from the imo great youtube-coach TENFITMEN, but read that many don't agree with this advice at all, claiming it's active motion that "locks" in the wrist. It sounds like it would remedy my problems with the closed racket face. Any thoughts?
