After some research it sounds like a flexier head prestige from 1988. Came in at 346 grams and about 5 pts HL with the stock half cap grommets, leather grip, and who-knows-how-old Prince Synthetic Gut 16... added a wilson overgrip and sampras damp and will take it for a hit soon.

Congrats and great find! It's a great racquet. The Original Elite Pro that you have did not use 600 for headsize in the name, just went by Elite Pro. The widebody replacement was called the Elite Pro 600.

You don't need that dampener in the strings. It is a very muted with no vibration. You will not get the full effect of the sweet feel with it in there.

It is a great racket, but what is amazing is that the brittle white grommets haven't shattered to a thousand pieces yet.

    Thanks for the clarification...

Yep, they're cracking in alot of places, but I don't want the added weight of the full cap grommets... I'm thinking of possibly cutting the full size caps to half caps (if at all possible) once I break this string.

Yes, you can trim CAP Grommets. You just get MG/YT Prestige Mid grommets.

Oh, they're really not all that ultra rare:

Seriously, they only made these for one year, so they are a little rare, and an excellent frame, too. Check out this existing thread for more than you probably wanted to know about the 1988 Head Elite Pro, including details on fitting newer Head grommets (trimmed or otherwise): http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=308567

These 80s ones just seem so slim and svelte compared to current day Prestiges etc. I wish current HEADs stuck at beam widths in the general area of 18-19mm. Continual beam creep is annoying. Given current trends, we seem to be heading for 22-23mm Prestiges, no?

The Elite Pro is 19mm and today's IG Prestige Mid is 19mm.
