Well, I was checking the rankings today after Wimbledon and I noticed; finally R. Gasquet made the top ten, good for him. Then looked further down and realize that two coming up frenchies made the top 100 first time: Jo-Wilfred Tsonga and E. Roger-Vasseline. Now France has 15 top 100 tennis players and four of them are in their high rank ever (Tsonga, Gasquet, R.Vasseline and PH Mathieu). Even the “always there” old French players improved their performances, and apparently big guy Gael Monfils is coming up from the slump he was, all this in the grass season.

Now if you look on the women side, comes to my mind Miss Bartolli that just made the finals and gave a good fight to V. Williams.

Any thoughts about this?, Would this be a tendency that will continue or just a coincidence?

How do you think they will make on the hard court season?

Please lets make this a free Fed- Nadal thread ;) thanks

French players have been playing very well during the grass season. Almost every year we have a breakout of french players during the grass court season

Gasquet will end the french malediction (no GS win by a french player since Noah) and will win a GS in the next 3 years, mark my word ;)

I don't think they would thrive as they are right now if the grass was as quick as Sampras' Wimbledon which had no bounce and just skids. Now it's easier to have success in the FO and Wimby in the same year. If the situation is the same as in Queens, they would have a harder time and guys like Roddick will thrive.
