    To the moderators:

I would like you to know that I purchased a racquet from this seller that is not as described.

I purchased the Prince Spectrum Comp 90, 4 1/2 grip, without strings pictured in the original post. What was not clear from the picture, and that the seller did not disclose, was that the grip of the racquet has been significantly modified and varies significantly from the original shape. To quantify this, I took some measurements of the grips of three other racquets that I have and compared them to the grip measurements of the racquet I purchased from the seller. The other racquets all have 4 1/2 grips, just as seller's racquet was supposed to have. One is the exact same model, a Prince Spectrum Comp 90. The other two racquets were Wilson Hyper Hammer 5.3s.

I measured the circumference and the dimension of each face (parallel, perpendicular, and diagonal to the face) of the grip. All grips were wrapped with one layer of grip tape, Prince ResiPro on the two Prince racquets and Prince DuraTred+ on the two Wilson racquets. The ResiPro and the DuraTred+ grip tape have approximately the same thickness. The measurements were all done with digital calipers, and for the circumference measurement I wrapped a string around the handle, laid it flat on paper and marked the start and end points on the paper, and then measured the length with the calipers.

A table would show the results more clearly, but I doubt the formatting would work. (For each dimension I'll list the measurements in the order the seller's Spectrum Comp, my Spectrum Comp, Wilson 1, and Wilson 2.) All dimensions are in inches.

    Circumference 4.35, 4.54, 4.63, 4.61
Width of Flats parallel to face: 0.96, 0.75, 0.71, 0.74
Width of flats perpendicular to face: 0.66, 0.63, 0.56, 0.58
Width of flats diagonal to face: 0.36, 0.51, 0.52, 0.51

The measurements clearly show that the seller's racquet deviates significantly from the other three racquets in two dimensions: the width of the flats parallel to the face and the width of the flats diagonal to the face. Calculating the average measurement of the other three racquets and comparing the average to the seller's racquet, the seller's racquet is 30% larger for width of the flats parallel to the face, and 30% smaller in width of the flats diagonal to the face. The circumference of the seller's racquet is also small, actually smaller than a 4 3/8 grip size.

I think this data objectively shows that the racquet grip differs significantly from a standard grip. I suspect that the grip was originally a larger grip that someone tried to reduce in size. I don't want to speculate on whether or not there was intent to deceive, but the differences are significant enough that regardless of intent the seller had an obligation to disclose them. The seller has refused to rectify this situation. I have notified Paypal and my credit card company. At this point I just don't want anyone else to get burned as I did.

    Thanks,

    Rich Kelley
