Just heard from the Twitter Machine:
Time for him to officially retire? What do you posters think?
Yeah, with heart problems like that, I think it's best to hang up the racquet and be a mentor for a young rising star in his local area.
It would be a tragedy if he passes out on a court and doesn't wake up from it...
He lost a lot of weight in a short time
Sadly, I think its coming to that. With ongoing heart issues, I just don't see how he can risk playing a strenuous game like tennis anymore. Who wants to see him collapse on court with a fatal heart attack? I'm sure his wife and loved ones don't.
Maybe time for Mardy to hang up his racquet and take up a less stressful activity like golf. He can stay connected to the tennis world by going down the commentator route like his pal, Andy Roddick.
He's 31 now, made plenty of money and had a good career, was a top 10 player and #1 US player until his heart issues intervened. Pity that he never landed that one Masters title he would have liked (0-4 in finals). His talent deserved that at least.
On the bright side, at least he won't have to face anymore of those 'goddamn Frenchies' !
I think it's game over... pity... but he is 31, he should go for the good
He should retire. Ashe came back from heart problems and ended up having a massive heart attack and a triple bypass.
Yep. There's something fishy going on.
did you happen to notice his tweet yesterday?
Mardy Fish @MardyFish
Nothing surprises me anymore with the cheating in sports.
I'm not sure if someone serving a silent ban would tweet this.
anything is possible. nothing should surprise anyone regarding cheating in sports.
If Antonio Cassano can overcome heart issues, I am not writing Fish off just yet
I am sure he will do fine with ongoing treatment, but the rigors of the pro tour may be tough to maintain. Not even so much the tennis, but the constant travel, inconsistent rest, etc. all adds up. Best of luck to him.
Well, he could play poker with whathisname ?
The fact that people are suggesting a silent ban..I worry about people. He's played sporadically. The ATP isn't going to be like "oh take these 3 weeks off, come back for these two tournaments, then take time off again." that doesn't make sense.
They could invite the Big Swede to join them!
At least no regrets. He got his act together in time and maxed out his potential. A masters shield would have indeed been nice but 5 years ago a Wimbledon QF would seem like a fantasy to Mardy.
What was the context of the tweet? What does not surprise him?
I don't know. But if you find out let me know.
Maybe it has something to do with the Fuentes trial.
ANDY RODDICK is not a commentator. And he quit his radio show.
He could be on EPO.
I remember he did not play a tournament because of tiredness. Tiredness, decreased energy level, is a side effect of EPO injection.
He also has irregular heartbeat problem and often has extremely fast heartbeat and he thought he'd die because of it. Rapid heartbeat is also one of EPO injection's side effects.
He needs to retire. He never was the was the fittest player on the tour and also had injury issues.
