Tennis warehouse is sell 3 different Gamma Progression string machines.

(1) Gamma Progression ST II

(2) Gamma Progression II 602 FC

(3) Gamma Progression II 602

I am new to all string machines, and could not tell the differences. I know #1 has fixed clamps and rotates 360. And the difference between #2 and #3 are one has fixed and the other has floating clamps.. What are the advantages of have these clamps..?? And for a beginner, which is better??
Thanks

The fixed clamps give you a more consistent string bed and are easier to use than the flying clamps. which is why there is a higher cost associated with them.

Do you think the fixed clamp is worth the extra $170... what about the 360 degree rotating turntable.. what is the advantage with that.. thanks

Yes I think the fixed clamps are worth it, but that's me. You are the one buying it. :-? The 360 rotation makes stringing easier. On some machines it's impossible to orient the racquet so that you can pull mains through the throat and you end up pulling two mains at a time, which isn't a good practice. Having 360 rotation helps you avoid having to do that.

The STII has mounting tower locks below the turntable. Those don't catch on the base of the machine?

the TT and mounting system is the new one with the tower lock downs on the top. also on the older style TT & mounting system (when lock down was underneath) it didn't interfere with the rotation.

The reason there is a higher cost is due to the cost of making them.
Fixed clamps require a turntable and lots of moving parts, which cost a lot more than a mere metal bar.

do the clamps on the 602FC metal or plastic?

sorry if its a dumb question... hard to tell from the black color what its made of

the black clamps that come with the 602FC are re-inforced fiberglass over a metal frame. the are similar dimensions to the die-cast aluminum ones and hold the same about of tension & same diamond coating gripping surface.
