Though I admit Gasquet's backhand is pretty sweet, I still think Fed has the greatest ohbh.
gasquets is crazy though, its so good he runs around his forehand to hit 1handers
Gasquet, far and away, has the best one handed backhand. He can literally hit it anywhere he wants, and just crush the ball. It really is quite a thing of beauty. He's one of my favorite players, and I really hope that by May or June of next year, he'll be back in the top 20 or so. At least he should be if he gets his act together- should be top 10 or so.
I do really like Kohlschreiber's backhand a lot though
yes, gasquet BH is very nice, he can hit some tricky shot with 1HBH,
Tommy Haas BH is good too
Roddick always seems to end up on the wrong side of some of the best one-handed backhand performances (Gasquet at Wimbledon 07, Federer at AO 07, Kohlschreiber at AO 08 ).
Wawrinka's backhand was smoking last night against Nieminen.
I have never seen a 1 hander like Gasquet's in about 20 years of following professional tennis. It is a magic wand.
Gasquet's ralley backhand is actually quite average, his long preparation means that he often drops the ball short, but he can fire winners with his backhand easier than most.
Come to think of it, you are right. But boy when he blasts that sucker it is a thing of beauty.
Is there a connection between long preparation and short groundstrokes? Just curious
Nadal has a short prep now but also has groundies which always land short...
I think Wawrinka has a better backhand than Gasquet IMO.
Oh yeah, i forgot about wawrinka. John mcenroe say's it's the best 1HBH in the game too......
I was watching the niemenem(sp?) match yesterday on replay and the angles he was getting were amazing.
Gasquet is overrated imo, the guy's backhand is not great compared to KOH or Wawrinka.
Eh, even when he drops it short his backhand still has loads of topspin on it. His rally shots usually look pretty heavy to me.
I see your vid and raise you this:
Fed has a sick DTL backhand. It's a shame he only brings it out on special occasions.
I still prefer Kohlschreiber's backhand.
this was AMAZING, the two backhands starting at 3:00 in this vid against roddick were stunning
i prefer kohlschreiber's bh too (well for topspin, power, and angles) (for slice and approach shots off the bh its federer)
Kolschriber has the best backhand ever!!
i agree. given the fact that wawrinka has a better neutral backhand. gasquet can pull the trigger much easier, but both can produce monster shots.
imo, it just seems like gasquet and wawrinka can produce more pace and more variety on their backhands.
All 3 have amazing backhands and I would give a kidney for them.
I just watched the match between Mai Xin Gong and Marat Safin. now that guy Mao has a sweet looking backhand, give him time and he'll surpass them all, except of FEDex of course.
Here you go the only video I could of him, Mao Xin Gong:
i like volandri's 1hbh too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7lOjqsc7MA
check out the sick angle at 53sec or the pass at 1:22
or even the highlights from the upset fed/volandri match in 2007 when fed was almost unbeatable
Here is one I uploaded of Mao Xin Gong from that same match
