Great weekend for Florida. Blasting Ole Miss and Arkansas. Showing the talent that the team possesses.

Gators go down to the Cavs 5-2. Was at the match and we played great doubs. Singles started well but we fell apart when it counted. Virginia was not nearly as impressive as I thought they would be, they must be a much better indoor team. The only guy we had who played well was hidalgo but he was also helped by the UVA guy who must have double faulted over 20 times.

They certainly have the firepower to do it, but it will be tough. I favor Georgia at 1, 2, and 6, while I'd consider 3-5 to be a tossup, so I think they will need to win the doubles point if they want a chance. Georgia's fanbase is energetic and I'd give their team the edge in a neutral environment, but it's definitely possible.

another choke by the Gators. Had a huge lead vs UGA and then went quietly. Shelton's g=Gators can't win the big ones

Well we made the quarters. Had a great draw, beat an avg smu team then got crushed by uv. I'll give this season a c+....we need to be top 5 next year and contending

Didn't Florida win the SEC tourney? Doesn't seem like a C+ year.

how is Gator Women dealing with this rough loss to the Cardinal squad in NCAA ? they were higher seed and was supposed to win this one. and even win the NCAA as champion. but just didn't come thru when it really counted. this kind of loss can be very rough on a team

Yikes, that seems a little harsh. I hate the Gators, but they were an exciting team to watch all year and gave all their opponents a tough match win or lose. But considering they weren't even in the SEC championship picture the beginning of the year (no one had them ahead of A&M or UGA, and even a few had them middle of the pack), much less the National Championship picture, they had a great season beating everyones expectations. They won the SEC tournament and lost to defending champion Virginia in the Quarters, who look poised to win the championship again today. Hidelgo played amazing down the stretch, and the rest of the team looks exciting for years to come. I would say that is at least an A- year, and next year they will be a top 20 team all year. Bama, Ole Miss, South Carolina, those are C+ years. Bama and Ole Miss people had performing better.

Ole Miss had injuries through out the season and one player who probably would have been #4 RS due to injury, they lose #3 and #6 but have a good recruiting class and solid young returnees. They should recover next year just fine. The lost their NCAA match with their #2 and #5 out with injury, but yes it was a very sub-par year record wise.

What's weird is that you saw a lot of women's teams supporting their men's teams during their matches. Even after they lost like the UGA women supporting the UGA men and same thing from Ohio State. But I did not see the Gator women at the UF men's matches at all

wow, I take it you are in Tulsa? Jealous! Thats interesting to hear....Not a Gator fan at all, but I really liked watching the guys play they had a lot of heart and left it all out there every match. I think Shelton is doing a number on that team I am scared for the rest of the SEC. Only saw the women play Georgia in the SEC championship match and I thought they were a little cocky, but it was Georgia so I chalked it to the rivalry.....Maybe there is something more happening

So you agree they underperformed this year....I had high expectations for Ole Miss, thought they would be competing with Georgia and A&M all year, but instead it was Florida, Arkansas and Miss St. playing that role, so C+. May have been the injuries, who knows other teams had injuries as well. Its a shame they have a nice following and great facilities, hopefully they will be back next year.

I was in the round of 16 and quarterfinals for men and women. I unfortunately could not stay for the action yesterday and today. It was a 13 hour drive but worth every minute. Saw so many great matches in both men and women

Anytime it is in Athens I go, I love it; an underrated event that is exciting for any level of tennis fan.

oh man, 13 hours? For me to drive to Atlanta for 9 hours is bad enough...I wish Tulsa was easy to get to. I realize they have a wonderful facility and have pumped a lot of money in the program there, but Tulsa is just so tough to travel to for most of the US (no direct flights, not easy to drive too, not close to major hubs). Its great if your a fan in Oklahoma or North Texas, but anywhere else forget about it.

This is Florida, ok I'll go b- but that's all, Jackson had us ranked 8/9/10 every year, Shelton needs to deliver soon, the sec title is great and I appreciate that, but the sec is down now, we need to bring it at a national level next year

I agree, they are a great looking team, he has them moving forward....Best finish in 5 years, and they will be in the top ten in the final rankings this year; they were as low as in the 30's earlier. Should certainly be in the National Championship talk next year, so if they finish worse then a C is warranted

What Florida needs is 1 more stud at the top of the lineup who is clearly a #1 or #2 player. Hidalgo separated himself a bit this year but positions 2-6 were all fairly even. The players could have been placed anywhere interchangeably. Good for depth but not as great for the top.

I hope you are right. But we lose our 1 and 5 and both are great doubles guys. We need a star recruit or it could be another b- year finishing 10

They hate when the other team double faults and also don't like easy over heads

Keeping up your perfect record of posting nothing but negativity about every subject on the boards, including your own team. Might be time to chill out.

Who is the Weaker of the two players ? and do they have tendency to choke when the match is close ? and tomorrow's match, do they play the full 2 out of 3 sets for doubles too or do they just play one set like during the season ?

I recognize sarcasm. But it still does not qualify as anything positive. I don't see you denying that you have been all over these boards for two days posting nothing but negativity about everything you comment on.

I agree, their UTR's are all fairly even, but they have a solid team next year even with their Sr. Losses...I think they will be competing with UGA and A&M for sure, possibly winning....A lot of fight in that team. if they fail next y
Adding insult to injury they are all out of the individual tournament now....
