Gaudio defeats local Gonzalez 6-3 / 6-4....he now plays in ATP Buenos Aires (at home for him)...will he repeat the title?
Congratulations for Gaston, he won 25 of the last 29 matches he played on clay!

Congrats. He's absolutely on fire on clay.

He has one of the most beautiful one-handed backhands in tennis. It's just amazing how his confidence has just shot up since his win at roland garros. If I'm not mistaken, he's one of the only guys who even took a set off of federer at the master's cup in houston. I definitely expect him to play well again at the french. However, I definitely think Coria is going to make a strong push after being so close last year.

That's five clay finals in a row for Gaston -- Roland Garros, Bastad, Stuttgart, Kitzbuhel, and, now, Vina del Mar! It's an impressive achievement. Even the smaller events are absolutely stuffed with expert dirtballers. No easy early round matches...ever. It seems as if 2004's French Open win has really boosted Gaudio's confidence, not to mention his seeding. Gaston is looking strong for Buenos Aires. With Costa do Sauipe (Brazil) and Acapulco (Mexico) to follow, can he make it eight in a row? I'm not betting against him!

Sorry, but you were mistaken. Moya took a set from Roger, but Gaston came close when he took Roger to a 2nd set tiebreak and lost from there.

Gaston took a set from Federer at an exhibition event played before the AUS OPEN. Nice to see you around MusterFan!!

Hi, Astennix! I'm always eager to chime in on talk of Gaudio.

Gaston often plays Federer tough -- even on hard court. Oddly, he seems to be one of the few guys who's unintimidated by Roger.

Don't forget Guga at Roland Garros. After the European clay section.

True...Guga's win at RG last year was simply amazing. Hope Guga recovers soon and is back in the tour.

I think he's unintimidated by Roger cause they have similar styles of play. With the difference that Roger is a more complete player of course
