Which is more durable as a cross in a hybrid poly setup? what is the up and downsides (s) for each when used as a cross.

    multi or synthetic gut?

your answers are always greatly appreciated!

Syn gut for me, for the sheer fact that most of them are solid core. I find multis like NXT/X1 do well for sheer playability and comfort, but they were getting eaten alive by poly mains.

Probably syn gut like Fuji says above.

But, you should pick the one you like the best as the poly mains will likely be pretty flat/dead before the syn gut or multi cross breaks.

thanks guys, for the reply! this is what i thought as well since it would be easier to cut a a pipe made with many strands than a sold pipe since their is simply more mass, at least that is my logic. however, when i called tw about this 2 people on the phone told me that multi was more durable, which didn't make sense. i'm wondering if they are just pushing more expensive product or these college kids just don't have a clue. probably the later.

I would think multi is more durable in a full bed; and that's what they said that. Just my experience

i meant the cross is the multi/syn gut and ploy is the main.

The synthetic gut will be more durable primarily due to its stiffness. If multifilaments were braided, then the converse would be true (not due to stiffness, however). Since they're not and are straight or just twisted into a bundle and coated, the solid core string wins.
