The most commonly used insult makes me wonder, what is "getting a life"

Any suggestions to add to my list:

    Read a book
    Write some poetry
Take a walk on the beach
    Play some tennis
    Stop making threads?

    Hang with friends
    Find a hobby

I dunno. I always thought "get a life" was a stupid insult.

I usually say it to youngsters who have nothing better to do than follow me around this board whenever I post, because if that's what gets you off, then you DO need to get a life. So, Doofus...get a life, will ya?

Why on earth should you be? Unless, of course, you ARE (for some reason...).

    Phil, get me a Coke

(but only if there is some rum in it, Coke alone is just useless poison. Cheers) ;)

You cannot under the governing rules of the Internets use the phrase 'Get a brain' without adding 'morans' to it as in, 'Get a brain! morans' as in:

Was "get a life" used in the context of telling someone to just move onto another topic and to stop obsessing about it?

I usually thought that insults like that came off of some t.v. show and you had to have watched the show to really get what it meant. Oh well, to me it usually meant - "stop bothering me, go do something else."

Man, LMAO..."Ahmadinijad" is hilarious, especially when he does that Mary Tyler Moore spin, looking at the sky with puppy love in his eyes. My hope is for this to be smuggled into Iran and show the Iranian people what an absolute fool this fool is (the REAL Ahmadinijad). Chances are, they probably already know that.

    Thanks for the laugh:)

Golf is like the most boring sport ever (don't mean to offend serveitup911 though).

Boredom is simply the art of not understanding something.

I played golf with my dad for the first time a few years ago. He's a golfer - I'm not.
It was great. Can't really be described - just... pure. Out there, just the two of you...
It was just really nice... and while I was out there, I got to thinking that every son should do this with their dad before death separates them.

I love that video for so many reasons, namely that it contains more 'video cliches' than "*!@* in a Box" (done by the same folks, just search for it under SNL or NBC if you haven't seen it). I love the 'arms wide open' shot, the 'piano on a truck' shot, and the gratuitous 'group of children' shots. The lyrics and the split second celebrity cameo just add to the absolute hilarity of it. Glad you enjoyed it. :)

I was just saying it’s boring as a sport, not necessarily as means of social interaction. It’s like saying playing tennis with a bad player is boring sportswise, but can be enjoyable if one has social interaction interest with that bad player. So really there is no contradiction here. And fine, I don’t understand golf, maybe you’re right.

when i joined this forum, someone said he played 3 hours every day after work. someone replied: get a life.

i wondered that he meant. like watch TV?, drink beer, is that a life?

deuce's post on playing golf with dad was v touching.
