getting buff

    I want to get stronger. right now im about 5ft 10 and 140lbs. Should I lift heavy weights and less reps or less weight and better form?

    light weight more reps will give u more endurance if u want more strength try more weight less reps but dont push yourself to hard

    thats what im talking about. then when i play tennis i will always go into a roid rage, and probably start doing good! so you know a good dealer? lol

    lift for at least an hour 4 times a week, doing one muscle group each time. eat a lot of fish, steaks, beer. do heavier weights but not something u can't rep at least 6 times. Don't forget to do back and legs. Don't bounce weights off ur chest, and do swinging body motions I think that will help avoid injury. Increase your weights maybe monthly once u get up to 170 lbs don't go up in lifting weight anymore. For tennis thats probably as big as you should be. I'm 5'10" also used to be 150 went up to 205 after lifting now down to 185-190 and I know my endurance would be a lot better at 175 ish. suffered neck and shoulder injuries trying to lift too heavy. yah number one don't injure yourself.

    ummmmmm you dont need more than 3 days a week, especially as a beginner.
    you can do less than 6 reps (like 3-5) and still gain a ton of strength. you can increase every time you lift if you do it right.

    Yep, this is more accurate. Low reps, high weight will get you bigger. However, I do recommend a split like x5150 mentioned, which works different groups of body parts each workout. I'd recommend a 3 day split of shoulders/traps, back/biceps, chest/triceps. You can also throw in a leg day with abs.

    Heavy weights with fewer reps does not get you massive and lighter weights with high reps does not get you ripped. We need to kill that myth once and for all. I've seen guys who could outlift a linebacker and they were ripped to the bone. I've also seen guys who lifted light weights for 25 reps and they were as fat as those rappers with chunky names. Getting ripped comes from having a clean diet and getting massive is usually a result of testosterone boosting drugs. I don't care how many reps you do with "light weights", that won't get you "cut" if you have a sloppy diet. You also won't get massive muscles from lifting weights alone so don't go out there thinking that your muscles will get incredibly big just by picking up the weights. I still can't get over how many women claim they don't want to get big muscles and are afraid to lift weights. They literally can't lift 1/10th of the weight I lift and they're afraid of getting big muscles? How did they get so genetically blessed?

    This guy is right, it's extremely hard for female to gain muscle.I have been doing some hardcore resistence training for the past two years (was trying to bulk up)... I think I *feel* a little stronger overall but I still weights the same. I don't look bulky at all in fact I look kinda skinny.

    I believe for guys to gain muscle you need 3 things (since you already have the right hormones):
    1. heavy weights
    2. correct technique
    3. good nutrition
